I agree. I think the problem has been Kyrie has been trying to lead but the young guys have said...back up, we did this without you. He's trying to use his tenure and accolades as a way to lead, but the young guys aren't cooperating. Every time Kyrie sits, Brown goes off.

But... what did they do without him? Not saying their postseason run wasn't impressive, but there's no banners, rings or trophies for almost making the Finals. On top of that, I'm highly skeptical the same squad could repeat that run against improved Milwaukee and Philly teams.

And how did that work out for IT? I'm sure if he could have that back, he'd ask for a contract restructure and extension instead of waiting for Boston to play the FA game. Loyalty cost him millions.

No, if anything too many people are taking it too seriously and personally. If Kyrie came out this year and wasn’t playing well enough, Danny would consider changing his plans and trading him. Circumstances change, and it’s a business. Kyrie doesn’t owe it to anybody to keep his word, as nobody would owe it to Kyrie to keep theirs. Kyrie is under contract for another several months and that’s the only commitment he’s obligated to honor.

Circumstances change, and it’s a business. Kyrie doesn’t owe it to anybody to keep his word, as nobody would owe it to Kyrie to keep theirs. Kyrie is under contract for another several months and that’s the only commitment he’s obligated to honor.

I don't think Kyrie has necessarily said anything to dissuade people one way or another into thinking he'll stay in Boston.

However, he certainly sounds a bit more non-committal now than he did back in October (even though he says staying in Boston is still his first choice.)

I don't know. This leaves alot of gray area and I am not sure Danny wouldn't consider trading Kyrie if he can get a good enough package in return.

Hard to say. This could end up being a very interesting trade deadline. On top of that, there's a story that came out today that Davis wouldn't consider Boston a long-term home (see below). If that's the case and Kyrie and Davis' future are tied together, that doesn't help our chances to land Davis and re-sign Kyrie this summer. If I were Ainge, I wouldn't trade for a guy who doesn't seem all that interested in coming here (especially when were talking a talent as special as Tatum.)

Danny could end up making a move at the deadline that would surprise alot of people which might not involve Anthony Davis and could involve Kyrie being dealt. We shall see. Will be an interesting 6 days but it does seem these scenarios are in constant flux.

Oh yes, there were plenty of comments about what a hack the guy was...lol

Look this is the NBA for the foreseeable future as the current collective bargaining agreement runs till 2023 so none of this partnering/pairing up whatever it is will change anytime soon.  And until there is an economic reason for it to change this is what the NBA will be all about - a soap opera off the court.

What it does do is put everything on the table for the Celtics.  Danny btw won't be the only one charting the course moving ahead - he'll be working in lock step with ownership because there's too much money at stake for the franchise.  Fortunately our management/ownership is pretty good compared to the rest of the league.

I'm sure there's a plan B, C and D for whether Kyrie stays or not.  And we're going through this again with Horford and then eventually Brown and Tatum when they're eligible for free agency. So get used to the uncertainty.

What you don't do is unload Rozier anytime soon - and you also realize that those draft picks they have remain very, very valuable chips - maybe more valuable than they were a week ago.

I think the Celtics will be fine, but I can't speak for the makeup of the roster.  Everything's on the table including a major trade before all star break if ownership and Ainge feel it's going to make the team stronger in the long run.

I think it comes down to the fact that the team has not come together as expected.  Of course, is they make a run and make it to the finals, and possibly even beat the warriors, then we're probably good.

If the teams flames out, then we need to reassess either way.

Oh I think he's still hoping to pair up Kyrie and Davis - I'm sure he's pursuing that.  The problem is both of them have opt outs so you're kind of taking people at their word - and that doesn't always work well in business.
