Really think Kyrie could actually be talking to all the people pushing him toward NY. Maybe he feels the best place for his career is Boston but all the other folks have an agenda for him to go to NY...the media, Rich Paul, etc.

Kyrie opens the door to speculation on his future: "Ask me, July 1st."

Kyrie Irving asked if his mindset has changed regarding re-signing with Boston: “Ask me July 1.” He says he’s going to do what’s best for his career.

That did I tell you folks??

That semi promise he made earlier this seasons... means very little

The thing about Kyrie is that he likes to say stuff. He likes to say stuff that is very ill advised sometimes. Remember when he said the Earth was flat, and that we shouldn't trust the establishment? Remember when he said he never believed that and regretted it?

Kyrie likes to rile people up by challenging the status quo. And he doesn't like the aspects of the industry where there are all these double standards about loyalty, expectation, etc.

So I think when he said he was resigning, he meant that.

And I think when he says Boston is a front runner, he means that.

And when he said the Earth was flat, he meant that too.

And when he said he was sorry about saying that, he meant that.

He says what he means and he changes how he feels often. That's who he is. Personally I'd rather have Damian Lillard And we're really lucky to have him and we should just be thankful he's here.

I think he is just playing the game. He does like to say a lot of things for reactions IMO

Boston continues to be confident about re-signing Kyrie Irving this summer, per sources. But make no mistake: They understand that adding AD may be the only way to guarantee he stays.

Hmm I wonder if Danny’s goal is for lakers or knicks to grossly overpay for AD....

Does either team actually have enough assets to 'overpay'?

Of course they can overpay. Those two teams can send all of their young and promising prospects plus multiple unprotected first rounds picks way in the future. Nets did that why wouldn’t lakers or knicks do it.

It's settled then. We'll take two of Damian Lillard.

Small ball for days lol.

Almost ten pages in under 3 hours because Kyrie said... nothing?

Yawn. Call me when he's signed a contract. Until then I'll be rooting for this Celtic team to make the Finals.

The Lakers could send all of their young players, and all of their picks, and it still wouldn't be an overpay.  The Lakers just don't have elite assets, period.

The Knicks currently don't have great assets either.  If they land the #1 pick, then they will have one of the most valuable assets there would be.  At that point, it's possible the Knicks could overpay, but you'd have to believe Knox and DSJ are top level assets as well.

Obviously this isn’t a good bit of news, but it’s not the end of the world. For one thing, we have several months ahead to show that this current team can make adjustments to play like a true contender as expected, which would really be the only variable that’s changed in the past few months. If Hayward starts looking more like Hayward, and the young guys get into a groove, this is still a very exciting team, and if we make a deep playoff run, I doubt Kyrie leaves.

Even if we don’t make a push this year, an off-season deal to consolidate assets into another star could change things for Kyrie and get him to stay.

Finally, even if Kyrie leaves, we’re still in a fairly enviable position with Jayson, Jaylen and our draft picks. We are in the rare position of being able to choose a direction and find success either way.

Yes...and he cant keep his word earlier this season

But now he has wandering eyes

Danny should trade Irving by the deadline and prevent alienating others

What if we not only lose Irving... but also Rozier and Brown (via FA) for getting the back seat treatment

Exactly, he's made it worse by not reaffirming it. He's free to do as he pleases but maybe he shouldn't have said what he said at the beginning of the season. Too many people are taking this lightly.

At least IT was saying pull up the brinks truck and was committed to resigning. I still want Beal by next Thursday and keep everyone else.

He cant keep his word until a contract has been offered to him.

"If you guys will have me" - Also meaning if you give me a max slot.

He can't be full arrogance and assume he gets a max contract offered to him.  Its a business transaction between him and Celtics management.  He said he'd resign now we wait until July 1 when the contract gets offered.  We're in a holding pattern until then and there's nothing to do but wait.  He hasn't gone back on his word until actions happen.

He gave the answers he gave out of sheer frustration and spite towards the media.  Nothing has changed aside from the medias little world.
