Kyrie Irving said there’s been some “unwarranted commentary about his future.” He called the industry “F’d up.”

Irving sounds more frustrated by the media circus than anything else.  He has said he would like to resign multiple times, yet it did nothing to slow the rumors.  This is obviously just the nature of the beast, but I can see why Kyrie would be getting agitated in the middle of a season where the Celtics are trying to get to the NBA Finals.

I also wouldn't rule out the possibility that Ainge and Irving are on VERY close terms.  Maybe Ainge gave him the go ahead to add fuel to the fire.  We all know that Danny is willing to send smokescreens to the rest of the league.  My gut tells me that Irving it still committed to Boston.

So now what do we think of Bucher?

The same thing we all said earlier this week - that he's a clown being fed narratives by Rich Paul and others, which LITERALLY HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE TRADE DEADLINE.

Here's Woj, the most respected NBA reporter out there, from earlier today:

https://twitter.com/Tom_NBA/status/1091364584722702338

Quote
Woj says on his podcast there is a lot of “wishful thinking” that Kyrie is in play. Adds that Irving has been clear "in recent weeks, in recent days” that he remains committed to the Celtics.

But yes, let's listen to the highly respected Bleacher Report pundit over Woj!  ::)

Lets see how RJ87 and Goukie88 .. the presidents of Kyrie is life fanclub spin this

If Iam Danny Iam checking out what type of return you can get for Irving.  Irving is not the only one that can take the team hostage

As I have said time and time again, players don't owe loyalty to franchises. This is a business. They should do what's best them If Kyrie decides staying in Boston isn't in his best interest, then that's his right.

Actually they may not but they should ...millions of dollars they are being paid says they should owe a duty of loyalty while under contract and not do anything that would be detrimental to the team. Saying you are not committed to the franchise is disloyalty and frankly should not be tolerated. I do not talk about my free agency until I am a free agent is an acceptable answer. I am a Boston Celtic is an acceptable answer. What is NOT acceptable is yeah I am looking around but Boston is #1. That is detrimental to the team that is paying you right now., and the NBA should find a way to STOP this nonsense.

Do you know how much money franchises generate from players? Honestly, it far exceeds what players are allowed to make under the CBA. That doesn't stop them from trading them at a whim. Look at Jayson Tatum, he one of the NBA's rising stars and I'm sure the Celtics make bank from marketing him. That doesn't stop them from discussing trading him for Anthony Davis.

Disenchantment with the CBA is not justification for anarchy. You sign the CBA then you abide by it, and not take steps to undermine it. You should be loyal to your employer. What about the fans...they are really the ones that foot all the bills. Anyone care about them? Of course not, because they are not organized. The fans --- the most important part of the equation, that group that spends the money, watches the games, fill the stand to make TV exciting to watch, pays everyone's bills, is always left out of the discussion. It is time for fans to organize and stop being taking for granted for a product that they pay for.

Exactly, highlighting the real issues he's currently having, not this drastic change that he's bound to go elsewhere. Come on, people! Actually listen to what he is saying! Don't fall into the media headline grabs.

He is after security and most money.. The team that can only give those is Boston.. Stop stressing.
He already has a ring  and has said before he is after legacy.. He wants his number retired in the rafters.

He is p---ed at the media to keep bugging him these silly questions so best answer would be to just ask him July 1st.

Nothing wrong with what he said because even if he says he is re-signing for the 1836274th time.. Will people believe him.. Probably not so just ask him July 1st...he naver said I'll be seeking meetings with other teams.. He said ask him July 1st.

Sorry but he said more than that!!!! He said he is looking, but Boston is ahead of race. He said a whole lot more than ask July 1st.

General take: NY's speed and aggressiveness to create two max slots and Davis's implied reluctance to even be traded here suggest Kyrie has let it be known he's at least considering leaving.

Positive take: From the videos, Kyrie seems more disgusted with the media circus than dubious about his earlier commitment.

Time will tell. I trust Ainge to navigate this correctly.

Rich Paul and LeBron have created all of this to place doubt in the Pels that Boston might not want to make a deal for AD, causing the Pels to panic and offload him to LA.

If AD is traded to LA early, then I would begin to get worried about Kyrie not resigning. Right now, I think Kyrie is just mixing stuff up and playing the game.

But like someone else said...with or without him, Boston will be fine.

Oh yeah listening to the interview was better imo than the quotes pulled had me thinking.

Still not great, you'd prefer he just quiet the rumors with some press speak, but that's never been Kyrie. Celtics have always need to present him with a championship situation, still do.

People leave jobs every day - sometimes it's for higher pay or better location or better coworkers. Just like employers fire employees every day. That's business. There's no loyalty there.

Anarchy? That's a bit of an overreaction, no? Unless I missed a significant portion of the comments coming out, Kyrie never said he doesn't intend to complete his contract with Boston. Expecting him to commit beyond his current contract and not expecting the Celtics to come out and promise to max him out no matter is a bit hypocritical.

TP my thoughts exactly.

C's still need to make the case that we're the best option for him to win titles and cement his career and legacy.

Yep. While we'll all agonize and overanalyze all of this, Danny truly knows as much as anyone where Kyrie stands, and we should all trust him to do the right thing, as he's shown that he has no reservations trading a Boston star if it means improving the team.

I suspect that if we don't trade Kyrie before the deadline, which I think there is virtually a 0% chance of happening, then Danny thinks that he will resign here and still plans on adding Davis to him.

I just wish this crap didn't happen right now. It's pretty clear that Rich Paul and his groupies have done a solid job in organizing all of this and throwing as much doubt into the picture as they can, which primarily benefits them regarding the AD situation.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
Two things to keep in mind:

- Independent of anything Kyrie or anyone else does or doesn't say, nothing is certain til the contract is signed.

- We are absolutely helpless to change that in any way, so there's zero point in panicking.

Further to the general take: there are other top flight free agents next year, including Durant, Kemba, Klay. Maybe the Knicks want to be ready for anything.

Also, are the Knicks known for making wise, farsighted plans than pan out months or years later? I can see a worst case scenario where they have reliable inside intel about Kyrie, but that seems the least likely case.

If I was Kyrie I’d be frustrated too.
