Kyrie opens the door to speculation on his future: "Ask me, July 1st."

Kyrie Irving asked if his mindset has changed regarding re-signing with Boston: “Ask me July 1.” He says he’s going to do what’s best for his career.

Kyrie Irving said he still has confidence in the Celtics and what they promise for the future. “Obviously Boston’s still at the head of that race.”

So high likelihood of remaining but not the certainty Kyrie claimed earlier in the season.

That did I tell you folks??

That semi promise he made earlier this seasons... means very little

Hearing him put it that way is the first real tangible thing to come out that I think is worth worrying about.

He sounds like a guy who wants to take meetings and have options come July.

I think we should probably assume, for the sake of our own feelings, that if the Celts aren't able to trade for Davis, Kyrie will most likely sign elsewhere.

That would be a disaster for the franchise, leaving us without a superstar player on the roster and no clear way to get one in the future unless Tatum makes a leap.

Nothing to be done about it now, though.  There's no sense in trading Kyrie with half a season left on his deal.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

A lot of posters are going to downplay this but I think it’s pretty significant.  He has changed his tune since the beginning of the season.  Not great for comraderie either.

Wow. Very disappointing. Kind of a punk move, if you ask me.

Gah, I'm not even sweating Kyrie leaving because I knew his guarantee didn't mean much when he made it. And the Davis situation will be whatever it'll be. But I really didn't want this drama overshadowing this season. We were doing so well!

I'll play the optimistic person and say that Kyrie only says this because even after saying he'd re-sign here, people (especially here) are still asking him about it and strongly believe he won't. Even if Kyrie said again he'd re-sign here, you'd have the likes of Triboy16 downplaying it anyways  :P

what a selfish jerk.  could have thrown cold water on this story, instead he adds gasoline.    forget about this season,  lets just talk about kyrie's contract the rest of the year.    loser player with no leadership.

There seems to something or someone in the lockerroom that is causing issues and friction...maybe it is Kyrie.

Would love to keep him but I am also resigned that they can win without him and Davis. Because you are not getting either if one does not come.

Do think Rich Paul has succeeded in causing the Cs pause. Cannot see Danny trading young talent and picks to NO for AD when Kyrie bolts to NY. Would be a waste because AD is not staying in Boston without Kyrie.

IF that is the situation, keeping building through the draft, resign Rozier and stay young. Hope that Hayward can return to form.

Very harsh post but I can’t say I disagree.  I thought he was studying leadership 101 from LeBron.  Oh wait... maybe he should have talked with Timmy or Dirk instead.

Lets see how RJ87 and Goukie88 .. the presidents of Kyrie is life fanclub spin this

If Iam Danny Iam checking out what type of return you can get for Irving.  Irving is not the only one that can take the team hostage

Not going to get anything for him as a rental. Going to have to ride this out and hope he stays. But something is not right with this team. There is a massive divide and I do think Kyrie has helped create that.
