He can’t say he’s 100% signing here when the offer hasn’t been made yet.  They can’t talk business until July and that’s what’ll happen.  It’s pretty simple.

He’s said over and over and over he likes it here and Boston is his top choice.  There’s nothing left to say.

Why couldnt he just say... his stance (that day he promised) is still the same

So technically what he said today is true... but it feels like 50-50

Vs

That public gathering night... the perception was more like 90 percent he was going to stay

Kyries thought process is all over the place . He just says whatever comes to his mind... a lot of brilliant people are like that but he isn’t brilliant.
By proclaiming his commitment to the Celtics last summer I think he p---ed of Rozier who was caught between being a backup and not having the minutes to showcase for his next contract and not getting traded to a better situation.
There is definitely a correlation between Rozier a performance level and kyries game availability

Terry Rozier said Kyrie Irving was active giving him point guard advice tonight: "It’s just to have him right here in my corner, it’s special.”
7:30 PM - 30 Jan 2019

Rozier is special

And glad he hasnt been traded

He sure was special on May 27, 2018 when he virtually singlehandedly cost us a Finals appearance due to his poor decision-making and shot selection.

At least he was there

Where was Irving that game?
what kind of argument is that?
You very well know he was recovering from surgery

It really doesn’t matter what he says because people are going to interpret how they want to anyways. Personally I don’t trust any of these guys. Things happen and people change regardless of what they say months ago.

Just keep with the plan DA. There’s a brow to acquire.

Watched the whole video. Sure seemed to me this was more about being angry that he has to put up with all the crap caused over the last few days with from other people having an agenda than Kyrie saying he could go anywhere.

Even the July 1st comment seemed out of anger. The person asked if he had changed his mind about Boston and Kyrie, paying no attention to the person, while looking down at equipment he was adjusting said disdainfully:  "Ask me July 1st."

What happens July 1st? Mostly announcements that free agents have reached agreements with teams, such as Kyrie signing with Boston. This could have just been his way of dismissing the question
by saying ask me July 1st when I am signed with Boston because you are bugging me right now with stupid questions.

Then someone asked him why his change of tune. Kyrie was rather dumbfounded by the question as if nothing has changed since then and asked the reporter what they meant. Then the reporter framed the question like, and this is important, well you said that you were going to re-sign in Boston but now you are saying I am just going to wait to July 1st(to make a decision). Kyrie didn't say he was putting off a decision until July 1st. He told the reporter to re-ask the question on July 1st, the day a deal with Boston would be released. Kyrie said nothing changed.

This, in context, is the most important part of everything said and his body language, what he was doing, how he answered and how the question changed after his July 1st comment.

He never said he was undecided. He never said he would see what he decides on July 1st. He never said he changed his mind.

The July 1st comment was to dismiss a reporter's question.

He blamed all this stuff on being involved in rumors that had nothing to do with him and he sure seemed to be angry about that.

He said the media are the ones that kill locker rooms with this type of stuff.

He said he didn't live in this hub of stuff(meaning media craziness and rumors). That's probably good advice for many here.

After hearing all this I don't see this interview being any confirmation that Irving is gone or doesn't care about his team or team mates or any of the other stuff being theorized. I just see things as being the same as the ever were.

He didn’t say exactly what would sound perfect in Celtics’ fans eyes in a moment of frustration.  He said we’re his top choice and he can’t say I am 100% signing with Boston because he can’t yet.  It’s not his call to make until Celtics management offers it.  For all he knows Danny could trade him.  He’s said what he can repeatedly.

It’s just poor timing and the NY media grilling him.  It really is a non story and nothing has changed in my opinion.

That right there is a terrible take. How'd you evaluate Jaylen's 5-18 shooting performance? What about Marcus Smart's 1-10? You know who else didn't have a great night? Cleveland's guards. The difference was made because Cleveland's superstar played like one, and Boston's superstar was injured. Of course Rozier could've played better. So could pretty much the entire team.

And takes like that ignore the fact that after Kyrie went down nobody expected Boston to do diddly and without Rozier's stellar play, we wouldn't have sniffed the Conference Finals.

Just a bad take. Terrible.

This is why Kyrie isn’t a great leader. You need to know when to just say “nothing has changed”.

The Davis stuff was a distraction. This makes it worse. None of it needed to be said.

He’s a great player, and I think he’ll be back. A little Patriots-style stoicism would go a long way though.

Can't disagree with you on this point.  I still believe Kyrie will stay in Boston but it doesn't change the fact that he could have shot down the free agency questions altogether.  His temperament has always been an issue.

It's an unfortunate reality that there isn't many true "leaders" among the Superstar players in the NBA.

It’s a lot to ask a 26 year old to be a great leader.  Especially when he arguably just started the real process a year ago when he left CLE.  Everyone takes time to mature into a great leader whatever the situation is.

It’s easy to forget these guys are kids when they come in and no truly great leader is great without a lot of experience.
