They are at 227 million with 12 guys under contract. If they add 2-3 more minimums that brings them to about 230-235 million. Jrue Holiday makes 32 million. So trading him drops them to about 200-205 million. Second apron is 207 million.

I am only seeing 11 signed for next season (Brown, Tatum, Holiday, Porzingis, White, Hauser, Pritchard, Scheierman, Tillman, Queta, and Walsh), with 4 FAs (Horford, Kornet, Craig, and Davison).  Am I missing someone?  Spotrac has the 11 contracts at about $225.5M, so we aren't far off on that.  You have the 2nd apron at $207M (Spotrac says $207.8M), that looks about right.

But the key to understand is that this does not include Horford or Kornet (not Craig and Davison either, but that is less important).  If we were to trade Holiday and replace him with a min or a rookie, that would be still 11 players and maybe we are down to $196M or something.  Can we hope to get Horford for say $5M?, that gets us to 12 players and $201.  A min contract for the 13th roster spot would be about $2.5M.  Kornet is probably not going to take that, but that gets us to $204M by my math.

For 2026-27, we have more flexibility.  Porzingis, White, Pritchard are all FAs, plus Horford and Kornet again.  Maybe all those guys agree to sign for less to make a run for a forth straight title.  Or more likely, this is where the owners start to make major adjustments.

JD Davidson has a club option, so I just counted him as under contract. It doesn't really matter, its either going to be him or another minimum in his place.

So the team has nearly a week of rest, then Porzingis comes out with an atrocious 1st half, then doesn't play the 2nd half due to illness?? The guy isn't hurt but still isn't reliable in terms of being available in the playoffs. Hate to say but if this keeps up I'm gonna sour on him

That is why we need another reliable Center. Sign me up for Brook Lopez or see if Nazz Reid wants to come here and start

I?m with you. What?s up with this weird illness? They can?t even say if it?s related to the respiratory problems he previously had. I?d be more comfortable if they said flu like symptoms or a bad stomach or something. Now we?re left to wonder if we?ll even see him again this series.

Yeah like what on earth did he contract while on the court today?? Are we sure he'd be out if the team was still in a close game and he was playing well? Idk, felt like they took him out because of both performance and also the team had a 16 point lead at halftime, maybe they felt they had it wrapped up

Mazzulla initially said he had no idea if the illness that caused Porzingis to leave Monday?s game was connected to the one that caused him to miss time a few months ago.

A few minutes later, after he was pressed further, Mazzulla said that Porzingis had been dealing with the sickness for a while.

Since he came back, I think he?s kind of been dealing with it on and off, fighting through it, working through it, doing the best that he can and I think it was just too much for him in that game.

I didn?t know that was going to happen until I found out about it in that game. He had been working through it since he?s gotten back and he?s done a great job of being available. It was just tough for him to continue yesterday, so we?ll see how he handles that.

Mazzulla said Porzingis?s status is day-to-day. The Celtics will tip off Game 2 of the series against the Knicks Wednesday night.

I would have picked Cleveland in 7 against us next round, but man if Indiana advances and not Cleveland then it's a golden opportunity.

Celtics HAVE to respond tomorrow night and go on to win this Knicks series. The opportunity is there. Take it.

I'm not going to lie though this is the most nervous I'm feeling about a home Game 2 down 1-0 since the 2022 Bucks series. Even in 2023 against PHI and MIA I didn't feel nervous for some reason (though they then lost and went down 2-0 vs MIA lol)

(I know we've been down 1-0 before like the 2022 Finals but those were road Game 1s)
