Brown said his decision to play is not related the NBA?s 65-game threshold for postseason awards eligibility. With 63 appearances, he has to play two of the next three games to be eligible.

He said the remaining regular-season games are opportunities to experiment with his game as he gets used to managing the injury.

I will take him at his word on this.  Based on how he played vs. NYK, it is pretty clear that he does have some things to figure out before he is going to be any help in the playoffs.  I think he needs to play.  How much is 10 days rest going to change things at this point?  Playing might not help either.  There is clearly something very wrong with his knee.

Playing additional games won?t help. Resting and maybe some injections likely will. JB looked awful in the last game he played.

I have no reason not to believe JB unless I just want to be cynical.   He?s always worked hard and I have no doubt about his desire to win.   I think it?s important to remember that this injury has been a factor for a while and though he looked not so good in the Knicks game, he looked quite good v. the Suns and Wiz just a few days before.

Someone in the media bought up a good point, it's not like Jaylen was putting up numbers in these limited minutes either besides that one game vs. Phoenix. So even if he was "on the bubble" for 3rd team All-NBA, he might not have helped his case regardless with the lack of production.

He and the team must have been made well aware he wasn't gonna be selected for that team, so now they will shut him down until next Saturday for the playoffs.

Think anyone would look great against bottom 5 defense Suns and NBA's purgatory Wizards

Celtics All-Star forward Jaylen Brown received pain management injections in his troublesome right knee this week in an effort to promote healing before Boston begins its title defense, league sources told ESPN.

Brown is expected to be ready for the start of the Celtics' first-round playoff series either April 19 or 20, sources said.

Jaylen Brown injured his right knee, resulting in a bone bruise with posterior impingement, while playing against the Utah Jazz.

Quote
A posterior impingement in the knee refers to a condition where the tissues or structures at the back of the knee joint are compressed or pinched, causing pain, stiffness, and reduced range of motion. This can occur due to a variety of factors, including muscle or tendon injuries, ligament tears, meniscal tears, or even bony abnormalities.

The last UTA game that Brown played in was March 10.  He played 38 minutes in that game.  The Celtics have had 16 games since then including 3 cases of back to back games.  Brown has played a total of 9 games since March 10.  Wasn't an impingement part of the problem for Isaiah Thomas' hip?

Anyway, what I think this all adds up to is that this impingement in Brown's knee is not going to change much with a few more days of rest.  I think they played him those last several games as a test, to see how much it was going to hurt, and maybe where it was going to hurt.  One last try before they resort to the injections.  He probably will not play Sunday, after the injections, that is fine, and understandable.  But I am concerned about how ready he is going to be for the playoffs.

Resting doesn't seem to help, playing doesn't seem to help, we will see if pain injections help.  I hate to be overly confident but the first round should still be fairly easy so maybe they can work him back in, give him highly managed minutes to see how the knee reacts.  But I don't see how his game gets better than what we saw vs. NYK without him playing.  Since March 10, he has had 3 decent games (by his standards), 2 vs. PHX and 1 vs. MIA.  The other 6 have been well below his normal level.  The most recent game (which was the 7th in 16 nights for him) was one of his worst games.

for me, the question becomes what treatment is needed to fix this issue completely.  is it just rest in the offseason?  is it something that needs constant treatment?  is this something that will ultimately require surgery in the offseason?

The Boston Celtics are converting guard JD Davison, the G League MVP, to a standard, two-year NBA contract, agent Corey Marcum tells ESPN. Davison, who has played 34 career NBA games, averaged 25.1 points, 7.6 assists and 5.6 rebounds for G League Maine this season.

I'm glad he's getting an NBA contract.  I can't imagine he gets any playoff time, but it's a nice milestone for a guy that has paid his dues.

I'm guessing the second year is non-guaranteed.

Glad for him. Will he end up more Payton Pritchard or more Carsen Edwards?  Hoping for him as he?s worked hard. Still young and has made progress, but 6?1? doesn?t help. Might be a throw-in asset to get a deal done.

Pritchard played 19mpg as a rookie and was averaging 8pts, 2ast, 2reb on 44/41/90 shooting splits.

I don?t know why Davison is still on the team, tbh. Maybe he can try to make it on a terrible team like Washington, but then again the Wizards have Smart coming off the bench. I really don?t think he?s good enough for the NBA. Will be going into year 4 next season. Definitely good enough for the G league and Europe, though.

Davidson hasn't shown me anything in garbage time his entire tenure to show me he can sniff the court for us.

Scheirman and even Peterson have shown more.

Davidson ?  How can he put up those really big numbers up in the G league and have so little impact for the Celtics ?
Maybe it's a case of not having regular minutes to allow him to acclimate to NBA level of play ?

As for Scheirman, he looks to have real promise. Hoping he gets some playoff minutes.
Let's hold on to Pritchard, Hauser, Scheirman, Queta and add another quality big along with Horford and we'll develop a solid bench.

Davison hasn?t really shown anything when called up to the big team. He did win GLeague MVP though so maybe Brad sees something that can be fine tuned. I dont see him carving a role though as long as PP, DW, and Jrue are here. Maybe he can be a trade asset in the summer. I?m sure there?s a team out there who could use a GLeague MVP.

Unfortunately it?s true that he hasn?t shown at the NBA level. Maybe we?ll see something today as both rotations will be better than G league but not typical NBA level.

I tend to give young guys a lot of benefit of doubt before I draw a conclusion, and I?m usually wrong. Scheierman already shows he belongs.  PP showed it early (though exceeding expectations).  Edwards never showed it. Took Nesmith a while but he showed defensive capability early on.  Romeo looked at times like he might have something but often injured and ultimately not good enough (at least not yet). Took Sam a while but showed elite shooting pretty early. Not looking great for Davison but at 22 I can?t say it?s over, as long as he shows progress.  Hope he does well today.
