?The Celtics are really taking it day-by-day with Kristaps Porzingis and this viral illness that he has,? Charania said ahead of the game Wednesday. ?They don?t quite know when he?s going to return. And honestly, they don?t know quite know what exactly has led to this viral illness. They?re still trying to get to the bottom of what exactly this is. But I am told they?re hoping to have those medical answers here in the next couple of days to see exactly what this is and when he could return to the floor.?

Porzingis gave an update on his status on social media Monday, saying he?s recovering and getting better. But he also added they?re still trying to identify the viral illness, which Charania also mentioned as part of the unknown with this illness.

It's strange to me that the team can't figure out what virus he has.  I mean, I expect that when I go to my local doctor, but not from some of the more talented doctors in Boston.

Brandon Jennings on the Gilbert Arenas podcast, talking about redrafting his draft class:

Quote
I don?t think half the players ? I don?t think a lot of those players are better than me. Jrue Holiday has never been better than me in the game of basketball? He has a better career. They have better careers than me, they?re not better than me though. Are you f**king crazy? Like, they ended up becoming better, but they?re not better than me. Yes, I'm better than all of them."

Surprisingly, Jennings co-host Gilbert Arenas seemed to agree with him on his point of view. Arenas went on to talk about how Jennings was a starter during his first year. He further pointed out that players like Holiday and 11-time All-Stars Curry and Harden were not starters in their rookie season

Were they high as hell?

He started right away because that roster was a dumpster fire led by Andrew Bogut & a hobbled Michael Redd.

That was a playoff team. No?

Yep. I looked it up. A 46-36 team. Rookie Brandon Jennings.

That was always Brandon Jennings problem. It's why his rookie season was his best season, but his teammates didn't like him.

If I had to win one game that year with one player from the rookie class, give me Jennings  and his irrational confidence. If I had to build a team that would contend for multiple years, I'm picking Griffin, Harden, Curry, and Holiday hands down over him. I may even look at Mills, Green, Teague, Johnson, Rubio, and Collison over him depending on what the rest of my team looks like.

Was Steph not a starter?

Yes, he was. 18ppg 6apg 4rpg.

I knew that didn't sound right. He was a standout from Day One. His passing was very impressive. You couldn't not play him. He was too good.

They were 34-48 the season prior to Jennings getting drafted.   He came into a team where the opportunity to be a starter was there.

So did those other guys.

Actually, looks like Jrue was a starter as well. He started 51 of 76 games his rookie year. On a 27 win 76ers team.

Steph's team won 26 games.

Tyreke Evans' Kings won 25 agmes.

DeRozan was an 8ppg on a 40 win Raptors team.

James Harden is the only guy who didn't start. Harden's team won 50 games. He couldn't beat out Thabo Sefolosha for a starting gig. Harden did not play well as a rookie. He broke out his 2nd year.

Brandon Jennings has a high opinion of himself. He considers himself to be one of the best players to ever come out of California. One of the best players to ever come out of Oak Hill.

He did have a clever quip in defending one of those 2 statements in a prior video saying -- I [Jennings] was so good I was drafted in the lottery despite not going to college, going to Europe, failing, being a bench player, playing like crap and was still a lotto pick. That is how dominant I was in high school!

And in fairness to him, that point was spot on. He failed badly in Europe but was rated so highly on the basis of how dominant he was in high school that he was still a lotto pick.

Harden didn't even come close to challenging Thabo. Harden was lousy as a rookie.

Brandon Jennings was the 3rd best player in that rookie draft class behind Tyreke Evans (RoY) and Steph. He outplayed every other rookie in that class during that rookie season.

Asterix for B Griffin who missed that rookie year with injury. Otherwise B Griffin would have outplayed B Jennings as well.

I don't blame B Jennings for thinking he was better than Jrue or Harden at that stage in their careers. They were all Cali guys and B Jennings was considered the most talented of them while they were in high school. He also had a better rookie year than them.

I do think he is wrong on Steph though. Although if you were to go by age rather than draft year, then yes, B Jennings > Steph at the same age level as well.

Third best at the time of the draft?  It seems a bit meaningless because teams draft for what players will develop into, not what they bring as rookies.
