My Xfinity cable does a little pop up notification when the Celtics game is about to tip off.  Last night it did one saying that Celtics vs Knicks was about to start at 8 PM.  My brain actual tricked me for a split second into the same glimmer of hope and anticipation I get before every game.

Then the sad reality set in.

Go Pacers!

On the latest episode this week of his podcast ?Mind the Game? with Steve Nash, the Los Angeles Lakers star James spoke out about the Boston Celtics in the wake of their elimination from the playoffs. James said during his remarks that he believes the Celtics can get bored and complacent at times on the court. ?You think they get bored sometimes?? said James. ?Like, they?ve been doing this s?t so long. It seems like they get bored sometimes with the ? I don?t want to say the process ? because they are who they are. ?When you look at [Jayson] Tatum and [Jaylen] Brown, this is years and years and years and years,? James added. ?They?ve punched their 10,000 hours, but sometimes it seems like they get a little bored because of how great they are, not only as those two as individuals, but them as a team. And sometimes, it looks like they get bored.? 2 mins ago ? via Larry Brown Sports

He's right.  And we've seen it under Brad, Ime, & now Joe.  If there is a knock I have on the Jays, it's this.  People can complain about the coaching all they want but, at the end of the day, a lot of it comes down to the players.  This boredom, for lack of a better term, leads to laziness and some bad habits which we've seen out there.  Lack of ball movement, isolation, standing around the 3 point line, settling for jumpers, etc.   When the team gets in this mode, it's can be painful to watch and quite detrimental (look at games 1 & 2 of the NYK for recent examples).

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Yes, and this is also why three-culture is not a great match. Lends itself to lazy spells.

That said, Bird, McHale, and Parish used to have lazy games but they were so good, so much better than the competition on most nights that they could turn it on and usually pull it out.  Today?s Cs are better than most of the competition just not to the same degree.

I like LeBron?s comments.   Spoken respectfully even as he spoke to the laziness.  Provides some insight as to how opposing players view the Jays. Some high regard for their talent and longevity as a tandem.

I can think of a couple of posters over on Celtics Blog who would absolutely decry this theory?and any theory that touches on possible psychoemotional issues of players?and while I agree that we can't see into players' minds, some things just seem obvious, and this is one of them, IMO.

It's not the same thing, but it strikes me that, in spurts, you could just as well be describing the first year of the Miami Heat - which (and here is the twist) makes a stronger argument that it is the coaching, in the sense that it would seem to come from some kind of core inability to consistently buy-in when the shots aren't falling (which is usually the inciting point for the bolded).

On the other hand - unlike what we saw with the Miami Heat - because neither of these guys are likely to be all-timers on the level of LeBron, perhaps it's unfair to assume this is something that they can fix.

The CEO of steel giant ArcelorMittal and a member of one of India?s richest families is investing $1 billion into the William Chisholm-led purchase of the Boston Celtics. Aditya Mittal will likely be the second-largest stakeholder of the 18-time NBA champions and potentially be the alternate governor in the future, according to multiple people familiar with the details.   via Sportico

Mittal apparently graduated from Wharton in Pennsylvania then worked in an investment firm on Boston. He's also on some Harvard advisory council.

According to the press release he is also a "longtime Celtics fan."

His net worth is unknown,  but his father is worth $16 billion, maybe more. Aditya is one of only two children, so he presumably stands to inherit a mountain of money.

He's 49 so it would be weird and somewhat concerning if his net worth actually is unknown.  From Google, Aditya Mittal's net worth is estimated to be $23.9 billion, according to Bloomberg.

That figure is for his father Lakshmi. Bloomberg has him at $24B. Forbes has him at $16B.

Might be a Wyc-like situation where he's investing his dad's money before he inherits it.
