Nice pickup, probably the best available option other than a s/t. He is versatile and has at least a bit more size and experience/production than Giddens and Walker, who otherwise would be the backups to Pierce.
The problem is, he is only listed at 6'6, and Celtics already have a high volume of players that can both play shooting guard and small forward 2/3 like TA, Giddens, and Walker, and you add Daniels to this list. What they need is a 3/4 that at least has enough size and to match up with the bigger 3's like James. As TA has shown, you don't necessarily need a bigger guy to guard the bigger players like Lebron or Marvin Williams, but it would be nice if they had one, and unfortunately while I think Daniels can be a productive backup against most teams and he is the most of a true 3 that they have behind PP, the Celts still could use a bigger 3/4.
Maybe BBD is that guy if he has slimmed down and gained the required quickness and movement and Celtics will certainly be deep if they retain him.I would like to see the Celts retain Scal and use his contract in a trade. One wishful possibility is Scal's expiring and possibly one of the younger guys traded to the the money/cap constrained hornets for a guy like Julian
Wright, or to Portland who is looking to unload Outlaw.
