so who does boston keep as insurance to daniels? walker, tony or giddens? i feel like they are going to keep pruitt, giddens and tony and end up sending scal and walker to the pacers...

which would leave boston two holes to address...1. resigning baby to be the primary #2 PF and getting a 4th big off the bench..which could be filled...

now if baby does walk...who does boston get as the #2 PF? joe smith? wilcox?

Giddens and Walker are going nowhere. They'll try to cash in on Tony's contract somehow. Other than that, they'll keep them all unless a good trade comes along. I wouldn't be surprised if they'll just strengthen the big men depth and we're done for the offseason.

We'll what the Pacers want, if it indeed ends up being a sign and trade.

So it still seems unclear whether Daniels comes here via trade involving Scal or via LLE.

In either case, it seems like a decent signing.  Hill would have been better, but you take what you can get.  I know little about Daniels, but he seems a little similar to Tony Allen, although a better ball handler, but a worse defender.

If Scal is involved, I am hoping he is bought out and comes back to the Cs.
actually, it'll either be the sign and trade or our biannual exception, which would leave us the LLE to use somewhere along the way (FA PG perhaps? or maybe a 5th big for the front court...)
The bi-annual exception is the same thing as the LLE.

What's the difference between Trevor Ariza and Marquis Daniels?

I think they'll end up keeping Tony until they see how Daniels handles being the backup wing.

What's the difference between Trevor Ariza and Marquis Daniels?

Ariza is a bit more athletic and played on a winning team..other than that not much.

Ariza is way better than Daniels.  Daniels can't shoot or play D, sorry but he is a bust.

What do you mean by bust? Daniels wasn't even drafted, makes it difficult to be a bust.

Ariza's a better shooter, dunker, rebounder and help defender (probably the best in the league at stealing the ball in non-gambling situations) and a very efficient player overall.  Daniels is the better ballhandler and in-between player, but he also turns the ball over a lot more.  I'd say they are equally versatile defensively, it's just that Daniels is going to cause as much havoc as Ariza.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

How is Ariza way better than Daniels?  Daniels averaged 13.6 per game last year, and Ariza averaged 8.9.  Daniels is over 9 per game per season while Ariza hasn't scored more than 9 PPG in any season throughout his career. The other stats are about the same, except Ariza has a higher 3PT%.   Ariza was Lakers 5th best guy last year, what will Daniels be our 8th best guy?

I really doubt it. I think they'll be more interested in establishing either Walker and Giddens and move on from Tony. With Daniels in here, it'll be a bit harder though, but it will make Tony and Scal more expendable. I figure that they'll use one or both to land another big man... maybe a PG, but I think they'll go after a big man with those contracts.

I think Danny will finally cash in somehow on the Tony Allen investment, and groom Walker and Giddens, even if it's just to make them attractive trade chips in the future... hoping for them to become contributors. Walkers will be very cheap for the next few years, and Giddens himself is fairly cheap too.

We'll see.

Else, they'll have no problems keeping them all and just solidify the big man situation.

awesome signing - still would like that pure pg off the bench and a 5th big (with baby as the 4th) but this is the most solid bench we've had, better than the title team even

Daniels is a good pickup. No more complainning. The guy is a pesky player and can play in the playoffs. He is not oustanding in any departments(can't shoot the three though can shoot a mid range two well) and has above avg athletism. A couple of years ago he would have been easily signed for 3.5 million dollars per year.

Way better option than walker or giddens as backup sf. (those guys will be back to the dleague imo)

As for dreams of regaining bbd its not going to happen. He won't sign to a mediocre raise and some team will give him at least at worst 2.5 mill a year.

Danny also won't sign a backup pg until he gets another look at hudson and pruitt (who won't get his option picked up but maybe invited to camp)

Wallce, Daniels, Hudson will be new additions to the team.

Gives kg/perk and allen/pierce legit time to rest compared to last season

Davis is a restricted FA. If someone offers him money like that Danny will match.

For some reason, I think they'll hold off on the PG situation at the moment... focusing on the big men, and maybe try some lineups with House-Daniels-Giddens/Walker (with Daniels helping control the ball). Maybe Pruitt-House-Daniels. I think Danny would be more interested right now trying to see if any of those can get the job done right now rather than have them eating the bench once again.
