Perhaps ... Danny Boy intends for Marquis to be the back-up PG and is still looking for PP's back-up at SF?

Sorry to jump on the topic so late, but does anyone have the site where it says this is *really* official?  ??? I've been doing the graveyard shifts at work so i've been sleeping like crazy and missed all the action.  :(

Won't know for sure until Pacers decide they want a Sign& Trade or not

Please tell me he's taking Tony Allen's spot in the rotation, if not the roster

People, you realize PP is 6'6 as well right?  Daniels can play the backup 3.  If you're looking for that really long or multi-talented wing that can play on the wing and play the 4 spot, those are a dime a dozen.(Posey, Odom, Lewis, Diaw, Jamison, Al Harrington, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, AK47) If you noticed most of those players start, and have big paychecks for the most part.  Those guys are really rare and aren't just running around like the 6'3-6'6 guys are.  Would I love to have a long win player backing up Pierce, yes, but do I see us finding a quality one that would come cheap and willing to only play a bench role..no.

I'm really happy we got someone though, that at least is 6'5+ in Daniels, as TA, Giddens, and Walker are no bigger than 6'4.

Also he is not a restricted free agent, Indiana did not pick up his option, so he is free to go whereever he wants and sign whenever he wants.   http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4294765

Very nice pickup. I didnt even realize he was available. Nice spark on offense, and very pesky on defense. Now that he's on the "Good side of the force" he will be even more pesky on defense. I say have Bill Walker backup Pierce at the 3, and Daniels at the 2. But obviously if we need someone with more experience throw Daniels in there, if we need someone to body the opposing 3's like Lebron, throw Walker in there.

Another thing about this pickup. Is he being brought along to be the backup 2? Eddie is not a PG, and is "supposed" to be the full time backup 2 right? Maybe this makes him expendable? Add him to Tony, Scal, Giddens, and we have how much in expirings now? Interesting to think about.

BENCH:

PG: ????, Hudson?, Pruitt?
SG: Eddie?, Daniels, Giddens
SF: Daniels?, Walker
PF: BBD?, Scal
C:  Sheed, Fazekas?

It's lack of strength, not height, that worries me about sticking Marquis at the 3.  Paul Pierce is very strong, so he can bang with the LeBrons and Melos of the league as well as anybody can.  I admittedly don't know too much about Daniels in terms of strength, but the fact that he's a 6'6" PG/SG (as opposed to SG/SF), combined with the fact that Hollinger has him listed as a soft defender, suggests that he can be pushed around pretty easily.

Do you know what the phrase "a dime a dozen" means?  You called the 3/4 players in the league a dime a dozen, and then went on to say how rare they are.  "A dime a dozen" means that they are easily obtained at a cheap price, as in "you can buy a dozen of them for a dime".

And just to nitpick, Bill Walker is closer to 6'6" than 6'4".  He's plenty big enough to play the SF spot.

People should worry less about specific height and more about body type and height to weight ratio.

BBD, for example, is probably as tall or perhaps just a bit taller than most small forwards, but he is much thicker, making him a PF or perhaps a C.

Paul Pierce is only 6'7'' or so, but he has a solid build and is therefore a prototypical SF.

Ray is 6'6'' but he's slighter and faster so much better suited to playing SG.

Daniels is 6'6'' but may be a bit slight for SF - he's more of a tallish SG with good enough ballhandling to play PG at times - but he'll be much much better than what we have now.

Keep in mind playing with the big three can only make him better. I shoot a decent 3 but i'm sure under Ray Ray's wing I would be a sniper.

I've seen him at Mohegan Sun, while I was working valet(didnt get to drive his truck though :'( ). I'm 6'3" ,and him with some loafers on was barely an inch taller than me.

Well, 6'6'' in terms of NBA numbers is probably 6'6'' with some healthy generosity and shoes that add a couple inches.

ESPN just talked about this, it must be true.

They only said that we agreed on a deal for the 1.9 LLE, they didn't mention anything about the sign and trade possibilities.
