Although Daniels is a excellent bench player, I don't feel he is a good fit. Something about him rubs me the wrong way. He doesn't seem like a Celtic ballplayer & seems to have too much ME in him. Even when he was ripping the league for Dallas as a undrafted a few years back, I still never wanted to see him in green. If it is true we signed him, I hope to heck he proves me wrong.
Have to completely disagree with you.
1 - Daniels is an improving defender, and while he may not be lockdown (yet), his strength on D is perimeter halfcourt defense, something that is valuable come playoff time.
2- His coach last year was Jim O'brien, and whether or not you like Obie, he's a [dang] good defensive coach, evident with the 2002 over-achieving Celtic club he took to the conference finals. This means he will bring his defensive mentality with him, along with his excellent slashing ability and solid rebounding.
3-His length off the bench at the wing position is important, something the Celts lacked last year and had in 08 with Posey. Couple that with added length/defense in Sheed off the bench and House's shooting ability, this could be the best bench in the league next year.
4-Finally, and most importantly, this issue that he's not a "Celtic Ballplayer". Was there a more "ME" player than Stephon Marbury?? And when he had the chance to sign with a contender in this lockeroom atmosphere and veteran presence, did he not keep his mouth shut and play his role off the bench? With that said, I really don't think Daniels will be an issue in that respect. KG, Paul, Ray and Doc handle that pretty well.
