any chance scal get bought out and we can bring him back for cheap? i think scal is a great utility guy that can shoot the 3....

so i take it we are looking at a roster of this:

PG rondo, point TBA (i hope for watson)
SG ray, eddie tony and giddens
SF  PP, daniels, walker
PF KG, baby, scal (if bought out?)
C perk, sheed, one more big

So it still seems unclear whether Daniels comes here via trade involving Scal or via LLE.

In either case, it seems like a decent signing.  Hill would have been better, but you take what you can get.  I know little about Daniels, but he seems a little similar to Tony Allen, although a better ball handler, but a worse defender.

If Scal is involved, I am hoping he is bought out and comes back to the Cs.
Celtics fan for life.

  • There can only be one.
PERFECT! Now to sign Baby and acquire a PG. I just wish Marbury was back, but hey, beggars can't be choosers, right?

Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

so, is he better than Grant Hill, Anthony Parker, Matt Barnes, and Quinton Ross? From what people have said about him, he sounds like the ideal backup wing for this team.
He's better than Barnes and Ross. I think Parker and Hill are better players though, but not by a huge margin.

sounds good to me, he's also much younger than Parker and Hill, great signing

I would have preferred Hill (better shooter, rebounder, help defender, more efficient playmaker) or Moon (lesser playmaker but better SF) but Daniels is a decent enough consolation prize and more reliable than any of our other wing options.  I believe this spells the end of TA in Boston.  Can't have 2 sub-Rondo jump shooters in the backcourt!
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

so who does boston keep as insurance to daniels? walker, tony or giddens? i feel like they are going to keep pruitt, giddens and tony and end up sending scal and walker to the pacers...

which would leave boston two holes to address...1. resigning baby to be the primary #2 PF and getting a 4th big off the bench..which could be filled...

now if baby does walk...who does boston get as the #2 PF? joe smith? wilcox?

actually, it'll either be the sign and trade or our biannual exception, which would leave us the LLE to use somewhere along the way (FA PG perhaps? or maybe a 5th big for the front court...)

edit: i learned something new today about the confusing finances of the NBA haha

If Indiana is signing Watson, and already has payroll of north of $60 million thanks to the curious signing of Dahntay Jones, then I don't see why they'd also sign and trade Daniels to take back additional payroll. I'm betting they let Daniels walk, which means Boston uses up their LLE.

Daniels' arrival does beg the question: who's going to be replaced? I'd most like to hang onto Walker; Allen and Giddens are bigger expiring contracts (read: better trading chips).
