meh....not the way he struggled some games. not the way we fell apart after christmas and he couldn't stop it.
Given the other SFs in the East I think he absolutely deserved it at the time. By years end if I had to re vote for the All-Stars in the East he might have been a fringe All-Star. He was definitely a much lesser player after the ASG.

Probably because he was tired.  And why you couldnt log into CB without reading a thread about getting a backup for Pierce

I think fans would have been fine with a Udoka / Pondexter tandem behind Pierce.  The problem was, the Celtics had literally nobody there after Marquis went down.

I dunno,  a rookie and a guy that couldn't earn more than 13 min a game on the kings last year?
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

i was told to post my vote by KC in this thread.  are we supposed to do that?

i have no problem posting it, but i dont want people grilling me why i voted the way i do causing petty drama bc their feelings are all hurt bc i didnt vote a particular team as high as they thought it should be.

It's completely optional.  If you don't want to discuss your picks, I'd say just keep it secret.

I was intending to show enthusiasm for the idea, not demanding it. Do what you feel like DL!

oh, i know.  i understand u guys put a lot of time and energy into it so u want to know what other people think, especially outsiders not involved in the process.

screw it.....here it is, lol.

Eastern Conf:
1. TOR
2. ORL
3. CHI
4. ATL
5. MIL
6. CHAR
7. IND
8. WASH
9. MIA
10. NY
11. DET
12. CLE
13. BOS
14. NJ
15. PHI

Western Conf.
1. LA CLIPS
2. PHX
3. SPURS
4. G.S
5. SAC
6. HOU
7. LAL
8. MIN
9. DEN
10. DAL
11. UTAH
12. N.O
13. MEM
14. OKC
15. POR

Really Surprised by Toronto in first place.  Most people dont have them making the playoffs.  Even their Gm admits they have a substantial lack of depth.  Really interesting.

not that interesting to me

I, for one, am not offended by this list.  ;)

I'm not going to submit a vote for this, I'll leave it to Edgar, but if these rankings are for the regular season standing I'd probably put us lower in the rankings, with the expectations that we'd be able to pull it together in the playoffs.

Still, glad to see some strong support for the Croto Pickles.
Yup

I don't. Daniels and Finley, for as bad as they were after Daniels coming back from injury and Finley being old and slow, were probably giving the team more than Udoka and Pondexter could have. At least that's my opinion.

One thing is for sure:  Pondexter is better than an injured Marquis.

I love Pondexter. But if Marquis is playing like he did before he gets hurt, I don't believe that Quincy would be better next year.

Thing is can Daniels be relied on not to get hurt? I doubt it.

Still, I find it very unconvincing argument to say that Udoka and Pondexter would be better at keeping a year older Pierce fresher than a healthy, then hurt, then back but ineffective Daniels and old and slow Finley did last year, especially when you consider that Tony was able to relieve Pierce as well and Toronto doesn't have a 2 guard that can play the SF position like the C's did last year.

I just think anyone putting Toronto higher than say 6th in the East is not taking into consideration just how little depth Toronto has and how that lack of depth will effect the long term play of Allen, Pierce and Miller who, by February could be spent due to the minutes Toronto might have to play them to stay competitive in the East.

I don't know, nick.  Didn't you call Pondexter "NBA ready" and "able to contribute"?  Certainly, he would have been better than an unable-to-play Marquis and a Michael Finley who scored 15 points in 18 playoff games (including 3 points in his final 14 games).

Nobody was talking about needing a backup SF before Marquis got hurt, though.  The comment that started this debate was concerning post-injury Marquis.

I love a good Quincy Poindexter debate.

I wish I'd gotten Marcus Thornton this much ink last summer.

As they say in the PR biz, there's no such thing as bad PR.

Eventually able to contribute. Sure. Enough to keep Pierce's minutes down or be better out of the gates than Daniels and Finley were during the regular season, even after the injury, I don't think so.

And let's not discount what Finley did at the end of the season before the playoffs Roy. 5.2 PPG, 46% shooting from three point land, 50% shooting overall in just 15 MPG. His Per36 numbers for those 21 games were [dang] good. And Daniels for being less effective after the injury during the regular season still had good numbers for the time he played. I just don't see Pondexter in similar minutes as those two giving better numbers over his first season.

That doesn't mean that he couldn't contribute. Just not as well as they did. You seem to be painting Daniels and Finleys contributions as next to nothing in the late regular season Roy and I don't see it that way.

Early suggestion for the next CB Draft - let co-GMs vote again? The only argument I'd ever understood against it, was the rare advantage gained from a second guaranteed vote in regular season standings and playoff match-ups. Now that voting for one's own team has been disallowed (a change for the good) I'd like to think the more participation the better?

well id be absolutely against it in the playoffs, when we will be able to vote for ourselves. its worth discussing though for next time.

Agree. Though WW has a point regarding regular season seeding though it could be argued that co-GMs could possibly try to use their votes politically to purposely get another team placed in a worse position so I see both sides of the argument.
