I don't quite understand why a player who has made $100+ million over his career couldn't have moved to NYC before now, or couldn't move there next season even if Hill is playing in Boston.  Heck, Hill can live in NYC and Wyc can charter him a jet to commute.

How many years now has his wife's career suffered from following him around?

Why not respect his decision? Sometimes all you can do is say, "that sucks for us."

Where did I say I don't respect his decision?  However, the proffered reason -- that NYC is better for her career -- doesn't make much sense to me. If New York was their dream destination all along, for instance, why don't they have an off-season home there?  One would think that they could afford it.

Also, of course, the Hills are apparently strongly considering remaining in Phoenix.  Does Phoenix have that much better of a music scene than Boston does?

Again, Hill can do what he wants.  I just don't see his logic.

If I had to guess, Grant Hill is 37 years old.  This may be his last contract.  He has 3 kids, and his wife has a music career and suffers from multiple sclerosis.  He has already moved twice in the past 3 years.  I don't think he wants to play for a one year contract and have to move again.  I think he is working for an offer for multiple years.

Yaay!  A UK guy.  As a UK guy, i'd love this, but i seriously doubt his ability to defend big 3's.  

While i would still love a bogans - celts signing, i'd rather see a miracle work out to get another UK guy, Azibuike.  He's bigger, stronger, more athletic, and can really defend 2 or 3 positions.

Azubuike is not a free agent.

He also played 82 games in D'Antoni's system. That's a lot of games he played through.

And I know I sound like a broken record, but the fact that he can play point-forward with Eddy on the second unit does wonders, as it means we don't need to have 2 6 footers in the backcourt defending on our bench.

i love ryan as much as the next guy, but he can't defend quick 3s. i continue to support ross (oh wait he signed) and bogans -- guys that can defend both the two and three, don't turn the ball over, and can hit the three. that's all we need!

First, Gomes is more an undersized PF, not a SG/SF.  Second, Kevin McHale is no longer available to gift wrap us players in return for garbage and spare parts.

What gives you that idea?  Anybody who hasn't been a name mentioned in the first week or two is probably going to go for the minimum.

Bogans is a role player who probably has more value to a team that wants to a contend than a regular team looking to cut cost.  So I don't think we'd have a ton of competition.

I agree with Roy. It does not make sense to me. My theory is that the agent is pumping up the NY offer hoping to get more money from Phoenix. I think we are out of the picture at this juncture.  Our only distinguishing asset is the opportunity to play for a championship. If Hill had placed much value in that, he would have already committed. He is not coming here, the way I read it.

I think once the dust settles with the big name FAs...some of the second tier guys will get contracts above the minimum.  Fringe playoff contenders may be willing to pay him for one year.  Look at what Dahntay Jones got from Indiana.

The thing I don't get is, I believe Orlando wanted him back before he signed with the Suns and took a discounted contract with them to win a championship. His career has only a couple years left and he could be closing the door on ever winning a championship

Well, we'd still have the LLE to offer.  We're not going to give the LLE to a backup point.
