There are very few options after Hill. More importantly though, especially if we only get him for one year, is that Hill can help mentor the likes of Giddens and Walker much like Cassell did for Rondo.

People are also really underestimating Hill's ability to play point forward. What that means is that we can actually get Eddie House to play scorer on offense without having him to guard opposing SG's on defense (like we had this year when Marbury ran point and having Eddy get torched on every defensive possession by Gordon or Cliff Lee)

Not many free agents in any sport elect to play in New York City because of "family reasons.''

Grant Hill will.

Hill, the 36-year-old small forward, is leaning today toward accepting an offer from the Knicks instead of the Boston Celtics or Phoenix Suns, and a major reason is his wife Tamia, a national recording artist who would benefit greatly from him playing in New York City.

I don't quite understand why a player who has made $100+ million over his career couldn't have moved to NYC before now, or couldn't move there next season even if Hill is playing in Boston.  Heck, Hill can live in NYC and Wyc can charter him a jet to commute.

The Celtics options at the backup 3 are starting to look pretty limited, if this is true...
Here's hoping it is not true, or that there is a trade that Danny can pull off to improve the backup 3 situation.

Bad news for us.  We have very limited options if Grant Hill signs with the Knicks.

Because right now is when the Knicks are offering nearly 3 times as much money as the Celtics?

I hope he decides one way or the other by today.  The remaining talent pool thins out by the day.

It may end up that we fill the backup 3 via trade anyway.

Eh...  the difference is, what, about $4 million after taxes?  After Hill has earned $100 million in his career (largely for rehabbing injuries), I wouldn't think the money is *that* big of a difference.

Still, it's his employment choice, and I'm not going to get on his case for it.  It just isn't the choice I'd make.
