Any way we get Davis and Durant to go along with Kyrie??
Actually yeah.

Trade Tatum, Smart, Yabusele and two firsts to Pelicans for Davis.

Meanwhile Durant tells GSW he want to opt into his last year and be traded to Boston or he is opting out and signing elsewhere.

So Durant opts in and gets traded to Boston for Hayward and picks. Durant would need to opt in to the one year deal because if he opts out and sign and trades to Boston, it hard caps Boston which would mean needing to trade off salary and being handicapped with no MLE or LLE.

So he opts in and gets traded and next year Ainge re-signs Durant, Davis and Brown after winning #18

Kyrie
Brown
Durant
Davis
Horford

Baynes
Semi
Williams
Wanamaker - bring back
taxpayer MLE - TJ McConnell, Jeremy Lin
Vet free agent - Vince Carter
Vet free agent - Jared Dudley
A second rounder
I'd be stunned if that's all it took to get Davis.   Durant, I could see that as a remote possibility if he pushed GSW.  they'd be unlikely to get back as good a package as that from someone else (that Durant would approve a trade to) but I'm wondering why Durant would do it.  He's got a great situation in GSW -- top contender while they keep that core together -- and if he were to leave, it's supposedly because he wants to be the big dog on his own title contender which wouldn't necessarily be the case with that line-up in Boston.  If anything, I could see him wondering how joining another superteam would further tarnish his accomplishments
Durant is unhappy being around Draymond. He left OKC because he couldn't stand being around Westbrook. I think Durant is gone, it's just a matter of where. If he thinks he would like to end his career in Boston, this is how he gets here.

Although I find it funny when I brought this up months ago I was mocked for GSW never wanting to make Boston a superteam, and never accepting such a potential deal....now we are all getting hocked on the durant drugs.

I think another reason that Boston would be a choice, is not only would Boston have 2 of his absolute best friends in the league in Davis and Irving, not only would Boston be on his short list because Boston has already been on his shortlist, but you also have to consider that Durant loathes Lebron, and he doesnt want to play and beat Lebron in the playoffs, he wants to beat him on the biggest stage. He wants to beat him in the finals so that there will be no excuses from Lebrons camp on the beating he will take.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I don't think it happens. I think the chances of it happening are dang near zero. I was just laying out a plan to get Durant here and giving the reason why Durant wants out of GSW.

I think there is every chance that GSW would tell Durant to pound sand and go sign elsewhere that they are not going to help him get to a team he wants to be on. It happens a lot.

George wanted to be traded to LAL. Indy ships him off to OKC
Kawhi wanted to be traded to LAL. San Antonio ships him off to Toronto.
Davis wanted to be traded to LAL. He is not being traded there.

After the whole superteam creating in Miami, it doesn't seem like teams are to thrilled with trading superstar players where they request being traded to.

I have to believe based on how much money KD gave up, and the fact that he was responsible for 2 of their championships, to at least give GSW some leeway to possibly accepting his request. Kawhi doesn't count, because he completely ignored everyone on that team not named Danny Green.

And it's not like GSW will get anything if Durant completely opts out and goes elsewhere. At least they can get something in return even at the cost of another super-team.

Relatively quiet.

Bring back Kyrie, let Rozier and Morris walk, sign or draft some backup PG, sign an MLE PF or C (my preference is someone like Robin Lopez or similar), make 1 more draft selection, trade the other one for additional future picks, and then hope in the offseason Hayward gets to 100% (so that he can start more frequently and get back closer to his old self again) and roll with the team next season.

PG: Kyrie/?/Wanamaker
SG: Brown/Smart/?
SF: Tatum/Ojeyele/?
PF: Hayward/Theis/?/Yabusele
C: Horford/Baynes/MLE/Timelord

The ?'s are all filled out with draft acquisitions or other depth signings in the summer, so the roster will definitely look a lot better and more complete once those things are done (it's just hard to predict who those players are and will be exactly right now).
Does Kyrie stay if we dont get AD?  maybe if we do well in the playoffs.

I think as long as we aren't first round exits, he would stay. I personally think that while AD-Kyrie are great friends, their connection isn't as strong where they'd be willing to do anything at all to team up somewhere next season. With that said, Kyrie-Durant I feel have a much stronger connection and we obviously hear the rumors (especially with the Knicks), so that's worth watching.

But recent reports suggest even if Kyrie left, he'd prefer the Nets over the Knicks, or maybe even the Clippers. Same with KD. Not the Nets, but Clippers could really be his next destination where he can battle it out w/Lebron's Lakers in a fight for #1 player in NBA and the two LA teams.

My personal prediction is... Kyrie stays, KD goes to the Clippers, Kawhi stays, and AD gets traded to either Portland/New York. Lakers land no one in FA but trade for Beal (using 2 of Lonzo/Ingram/Kuzma + Picks)

Dude why/how Portland?

Well it would also depend on how they do in the playoffs. If they suffer another disappointing, early exit, then I think they would make McCollum, picks and 1-2 young players available in a trade, which the Pelicans could take unless they're blown away by another offer. Who knows, maybe the Pelicans decide they want to semi-contend and add pieces around Holiday and others. McCollum would be a good add. Also, with Nurkic likely gone for a long time, they could use someone like AD for sure. I see Portland as a dark horse team that could acquire him.

But they don't have good picks and McCollum is good but not an all star and wasn't even the 2nd best player on his team this year.  I don't see how he's even close to more compelling than Tatum + Smart.

I see you mentioning you don't think we get AD, but I'm pretty sure DA is gonna go for it, and I'm pretty sure Portland can't beat what we'll offer.

I don't see Ainge making a serious offer. Sure, he'll make an offer, but probably not a serious one considering his rental status.

Why not?  He's literally been calling the Pels front office and setting this up for years, per Woj.

AD's a rental and he doesn't seem fond of coming here. Plus the whole Rich Paul (and therefore, Lebron) connection makes me feel real iffy about the chances of him actually re-signing here, and even then there could be even more drama in 2020 since AD technically becomes a FA after the season and of course the Lakers will be in all the rumors  ::)

Like I said, Ainge will make an offer, but it probably won't be as big as people think. He's not stupid enough to gut the team for AD either (which includes giving up ALL the picks).

I have never heard him actually say he doesn't want to go Boston...

So what makes you think AD wants to re-sign with the Lakers? Because it's LA? Because Rich Paul is his agent? Because LeBron is there? Well okay... If you want to talk about legacy, if you trade pretty much everyone on the roster, considering their stock and trade value in Ingram, and a couple of others have plummeted. What else are you going to really have to contend?

I have to also think Kyrie Irving plays a huge role in keeping AD to stay here.

This Davis doesn't like Boston, bolting for LA holds actually no credible evidence other than the fact we couldn't trade for him technically from last year due to the Rose Rule.

Any trade will start with Tatum + one of the lottery picks, and Ainge will negotiate and try to at least get a reasonable trade package. Ainge isn't going to shell out 4 picks, (every time I see posters write that down, I sort of laugh inside,) for a one-year rental without 100% guaranteed assurance, and even if you do a handshake agreement. That doesn't mean jack squat.
the key to the trade is the ability to get AD to resign here.  if he's absolutely against it, I can't see Danny giving up much at all to get him for 1 year.  If AD is completely on board with resigning here because we can trot out a starting line-up of Kyrie, Brown (or Smart), Horford, (healthy) Hayward and himself with a decent bench, Danny will pull the trigger.

The trickiest part is if AD open to resigning but needs to be won over to stay here.  If we can still lose him after one year, I think that cuts the offer from Danny but by how much is the unknown.

The trade kicker will tell us a lot.

Why? Because if he waives it, then we need to send out about 21M in salary to acquire him, and it would at least show that AD is willing to come here. HOWEVER, if he doesn't waive the trade kicker, then BOS has to send about 24M to match salaries I believe, and that's where things get a little complicated and we may have to include another player potentially to complete the deal. It's already going to be a big package if the trade is hypothetically made, and having to give up 1 or even 2 more assets to get it done due to salary in this instance would look really risky all things considered.

We saw Kyrie waive his trade kicker to come here. Other stars have done it too if salary-matching was a problem for the team acquiring that star.

He will know much sooner than right before the trade. Knowing Davis' salary for matching purposes will have to be the first thing determined and that means knowing whether Davis is waiving his trade kicker or not.
