I'm all for the trade. However, A Sherrod on CSN at 6 said that he thinks Kaman will be bought out, in which case giving up players for him might be foolish.
If Kaman is bought out, where is Boston on his list of preferences?
I doubt the Celtics are at the top of the pile given the way they have played this season. I expect Kaman will have at least 2-3 teams above the Celtics that he'd rather play for.
I expect Miami is top of the pile. Maybe San Antonio. Possibly Dallas.
Then Boston in the second tier along with Indiana. A couple of others who may or may not pursue Kaman who could also be in the mix -- Orlando, Denver, Atlanta, Portland, Houston.
Eh, I actually think the way the C's have played would put them at the top of the list. They have clearly been a center away from being good, and he would be able to step in right away and have the chance of being the difference between going deep in the playoffs of not as their starting center.
His number one goal in a new team would likely be to build a case for his next contract, and I can't think of a better team to show off his talents than Boston.
With that said, I would be shocked if he is bought out.
I'd expect Kaman's #1 goal is to win a title
And Boston are what ... the seventh seed in the East. The 14th best record in the league.
The Celtics are not amongst the league leaders anymore. They are rarely mentioned as a real title contender. The common perception is that their time has passed.
They are no longer the team who are the first team on every player's lips when they get bought out.
Now maybe they are for Kaman (top of list, title contender in the making). Who knows? That's my point, my concern. Where is Boston on his list? Are they up at the top of it or are they a few rungs down?
If you really want Kaman, can you risk him getting bought out? Will he really come here ahead of other places?
