fact is, the celtics are offering the hornets 2 YOUNG players and 2 draft picks.

the lakers are offering them 2 30+ year olds in the decline of their career...guys on the decline who many feel cost them in the playoffs last year

no GM in their right mind would make that trade unless you could get Andrew Bynum.

Wow, Woj has been all over the place here.

My goodness, the Rockets make out like bandits here.  Martin and Scola for Odom and Gasol!

makes more sense

Makes more sense for NO (although I still feel that Rondo + Green + picks is better than this package) but no sense at all for Houston.

Ya I don't understand Scola and Martin for Gasol at all  I feel like the lakers would have been better off making that move just for themselves

Not sure how it makes sense for NO. What are going to do with Scola, Odom, and David West, who are all virtually the same player?!

Two guys who are multiple time allstars and complete players. Also players who are 6'10 or taller with unique skill sets.

We were offering them one all star defensive PG who can't shoot and Jeff green, a defensive swing man who isn't anything like an impact player.

I'd be hard pressed not to take the first package if it had picks included...

Well, I guess if Danny wants to pull any magic out, he has to do it quick..

  • Rondo = Good
so the hornets after the trade:

Jack
Martin
Ariza
Scola / Odom
Okafor

Rockets after trade:

Lowry / Dragic
Lee
Budinger / Williams
Patterson / Morris
Gasol / Hill

Neither of those teams wins more than 45 games.  Borderline playoff squads at best.

Lakers after trade:

Paul / Fisher / Blake
Kobe
Artest
??
Bynum

Depending on who they slot in at PF and on the bench, the Lakers could be very, very good.  Worth mentioning they are relying on a couple guys with bad knees + Kobe, though.

It's very possible CP3's knee injury could act up, Bynum could miss extended time, and Kobe could suffer a serious injury as well.

In other words, we can always pray to God to make the Lakers suffer for once.

The NBA owns the Hornets. Can't the other owners block this trade? I can't imagine a single owner would go for this, not with the bad taste left from the last Laker Gasol trade.

Kevin Martin, Scola and Odom are interesting players, but New Orleans will be mediocre and not have a top tier player to build around.

They should have taken Rondo. Very clearly.

Marc Stein is saying that Dragic is included in parts going to NO.

John Hollinger says that NO will need to renounce rights to David West to make the deal happen.
