  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Sorry, it actually had a story up about it being official, then they pulled it.
I'm guessing the deal is concrete now and the confirmations will be up shortly.

these rumors change by the minute...who really knows whats going to happen. one minute Boston is in it, the next LA is the team.

trading Bynum/odom makes the lakers pretty small on the inside...this could be Oklahomas year to overtake them

It's not Bynum, it's Gasol.

#Celtics were confident they were on the verge of landing Paul. Source says they were already planning a physical for him.

Do we need a 345874359867495867456th thread about this?
Nope, been a while since I've had to merge this much.

How does LA do this on salary?

So does a better backcourt make up for a much weaker frontcourt and a bad bench?

When they get Howard those other pieces won't make a difference in fact most players will bend over just to play with them

Nope, they're weakened. At least for now.

Long term, assuming C.Paul's health stays up, they're much stronger though.

Houston gave up Scola, Martin, Dragic and a pick for Pau Gasol? Why ???

This has to be the end of basketball in New Orleans, right?

Will fans pay money to watch a team that no longer has Chris Paul or David West? They were barely selling enough tickets in the Big Easy as it was.

Here is an additional piece of information not mentioned here yet:  The Lakers gain TWO trade exceptions in this deal.

They gain a trade exception for the difference in salary between Gasol and CP3 (about $2.5 million) and another exception for Odom's salary ($8.9 million).

They are trading away about $27 million and acquiring only $16 million, so they get $11 million in trade exceptions.

That $8.9 million trade exception can be used to acquire a very good starting power forward.
