The Lakers are trying to do a deal for Chris Paul that will allow them to keep Andrew Bymum, front office source says.

As SI.com reports, the Lakers, Hornets and Rockets are engaged in 3-way talks on deal that would send Chris Paul to Lakers.

This would stink. Totally.

The Hornets (or Rockets) would be out of their gourd to accept anything less than Bynum from the Lakers.  I would still prefer Rondo + Green over anything the Lakers can give.

Having a hard time figuring out how such a deal would look, but man would it be disheartening if the Lakers managed to get Chris Paul without giving up Bynum.

If the Lakers re-load, the Knicks majorly upgrade, the Heat get better by the day, and the Celtics stick with more or less the status quo, you have to start to wonder if the time to blow up and rebuild should be even sooner than we thought.

but the NBA controls the hornets and the NBA needs a western conf. team that matches up with the Heat...they will do a deal with the lakers so this will happen

Yeah, I really don't see how the Lakers can get out of this WITHOUT giving up Bynum ... unless, of course, Jerry Buss has some close friends w/the Hornets and/or Rockets who would hand him a gift like Memphis did with Pau a few years ago. What a joke.

same thing, Rockets and Hornets wants scrubs from LA??

Ron Artest gets traded, Shannon Brown, etc, that will be stupid

its like the Grizzlies basically gave Pau away for free

two things to consider though --

a) the hornets seem to want to try to remain competitive right now unless they can really get a potential superstar asset

b) other teams don't seem to value rondo as highly as we do

man, though, if the lakers could get chris paul without trading bynum, it would feel like the gasol trade all over again (only this time it would probably involve gasol).

So what it would be CP3 to Lakers, Gasol to Houston, and what does NOH get?

Doesn't make sense to me. Houston doesn't have much beyond Martin, Scola, and Lowry. Wouldn't make sense for them to trade all those players for Gasol.

my guess is picks, artest and something else...just like the gasol trade. NBA needs a strong LA going forward and will cut corners to get them players....getting paul without giving up gasol and or bynum is bull you know what

Houstons gets Gasol
Hornets get Lowry+Martin? +others?
LAL get CP3

Something to that effect.

But I doubt this happens, Houston doesn't really have the assets.
