  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Brandon Jennings
Mike Miller
Lebron James
Ersan Ilyasova
Joakim Noah

I know, I know. Forever it will be known as "the trade". You guys have your opinions on it, I have mine..its done now. Now this is my team.

In my eyes...
Random thoughts on offense: Ilyasova and Miller are both elite 3pt shooters for their respective positions. Jennings and James are both at their best when they are driving, and Noah is mobile and explosive enough to be a fantastic pick and roll player to the rim. Not 20 points per game fantastic, but good enough to get his 10+ a night. James and Jennings are both about average, with Jennings at 37% and James at 33%. This inside-out dynamic I feel will allow for minimum clogging in the lane to stop LeBron and Jennings from driving, and good spacing on the floor. I wish Noah had a better post game, but he's not exactly inept either.

I think you've essentially become the Cleveland Cavaliers of the past two years. Your offensive is going to be incredibly dependent on LeBron. That's okay though, he's the best offensive player in the game by a huge margin. With Brandon Jennings you absolutely have to get a backup PG to even things out. The guy is streaky as all heck. The good news is he's a passable 3 point shooter, I'd suggest coaching on taking a spot up 3.

I love Noah and Ilyasova for LeBron to play off of. They're both great complimentary scorers for what he does. Noah is very equivalent in game to AV and should fit extremely well. Meanwhile Ilyasova can shoot and drift out to create space.

I think you need a veteran PG, a bench scorer, and a PF/C with some nastiness and beef to defend bigger guys.

I think your team is still going to be a factor in the EC.

I agree on the basis that my team will resemble the Cleveland Cavs from the last 2 years in way that LeBron will be the lockerroom leader and leading scorer, but beyond that I think we're better.

Joakim Noah can at worst replicate everything Varejao brings to the table. However, Noah is a better rebounder, he's a better scorer, he's more explosive, he blocks more shots, and unlike Varejao, he's a vocal and persistent leader on the floor, which is something that LeBron has never played with. Varejao has Noah by 30 lbs and he draws more charges. Beyond that Noah is better in every fashion.

Brandon Jennings is a better player than Mo Williams, at least he was last year. In his rookie year he was often asked to be the leading scorer on his team, so while I will concede he was bit streaky. He took shots he shouldn't. He won't be asked to do any of that, and on this team LeBron will be the leader. On the Bucks Jennings is the leader. I think his shooting percentages should improve, and Jennings' top tier defense should remain.

Mike Miller was simply the best outside shooting guard in the league last season, and he's a close personal friend of LeBron. While Mike Miller isn't Ray Allen, he can do pretty much everything Ray can (except defend on the level that Ray can..and Ray couldn't do that either until he came to the Celtics), and I expect him to fill a similar role as Ray does with the C's.

Ersan Ilyasova is going to be what Antawn Jamison was supposed to be last season. He's a mobile defender, he's an excellent 3pt shooter (for his position), he's a good finisher around the rim..he might not have much of a post game, but that's a sacrifice I will take with LeBron James and Brandon Jennings suicide bombing the rim every 3 possessions.

Tony Allen is a better perimeter defender than the Cavs had in any capacity last season, outside of LeBron. He'll guard Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade during the playoffs, and limit what these two surefire contenders can do with their best players.

Louis Amundson isn't a banger so much as he is a crazy hustle and flow defender. Amundson is all energy, and he'll fill that role off the bench for me.

Right now as constituted I think this squad is an easy head and shoulders over the 09-10 Regular season champion Cleveland Cavaliers.

Thoughts on my trade of Carl Landry for Corey Maggette

I think this gives us more scoring on the wing. Allows me to move Jeff Green to the 4 which has been his position his entire career. I feel like my back ups allow Green to play the 4. If Green is having trouble guarding a more stout 4 I can put in Bass, if he is having trouble guarding a taller 4 we can put in McGee.

The scoring addition of Maggette allows us to play McGee and Haywood at the same time (sacrificing scoring for defense) because my wing scoring increased.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I like Landry more than Maggette, but you did need to get Jeff Green to the 4, instead of the 3.

Well I prefer players that are versatile. I feel that every player on my team except for Haywood can comfortably play more than one position which makes rotations, subbing and cohesion better. Landry is a smallish 4 who can not play anything else, which hurt the overall make up of my team.

Also I expect Maggette to thrive while playing on a good team like Milwaukee after playing on perennial doormats. His stock will soar when he's in the playoffs next year.

Its possible. I'm not a Maggette fan, but its possible.

I preferred Jeff Green as a small forward.

I wonder about Corey Maggette + Josh Howard. Two very similar players offensively. Isolation dependent. Break a lot of plays. Limited range on their jump shots. Non-passers.

On the plus side, both are good at beating up smaller wings and with Green at the four you should be able to post them up quite often.

I liked Ray for your squad more than Rip. I like Jarret Jack a lot though as insurance/PG defender when Kidd is almost certainly going to miss time with one injury or another.

Ray Allen's role is clearly defined but limited. He fits on teams with championship dreams and #1 options that are not SG's. Basically that means he should be on teams with Dirk, LeBron, Durant, etc....He could also be on a team that uses the current Boston model, aka amass all players that were on an all-star team in 2002 possible in one place.

I would enjoy watching that team. I like the moves.

Both throughout there careers have been very good at getting to the line. With Williams getting them the ball they will be getting there even more than normal.

Ray also flourishes on teams with lots of Celtics.  Especially ex-Celtics who need tutelage on gun carrying law.

I think I'm close to being done with this roster, but I'm exploring a few other options. So let's put it under the radar.

Dwight Howard / Greg Monroe
Antawn Jamisonn/Al Harrington/ Ed Davis
John Salmons / Hedo Turkoglu
Wesley Matthews / Rudy Fernandez
Baron Davis

I'll probably scoop up a backup PG, but I'd imagine Turkoglu & Fernandez (if he stays) will do most of the ball handling with the second unit.

I like the team a lot, I think it's got a ton of depth and a ton of players who're capable of multiple posistions.

So, rounded out my nine man rotation this morning.

Coach Stan Van Gundy

PF Al Horford/
SF Gerald Wallace/ Linas Kleiza
C DeMarcus Cousins/ Antonio McDyess
SG Eric Gordon/ Raja Bell
PG Jrue Holiday/ Beno Udrih

NOLA Bucs - not to be confused with our Eastern Conference rivals, the Milwaukee Bucks - are still claiming to be the best rebounding team in the league. With a pair of 10 rpg forwards flanking the best rebounder in college basketball.
