Thoughts on the new Roster?

Guards: Duhon Gay, Stuckey
Forwards: Amar'e, Battier, Tolliver
Centerss: Okafor , Blair.

Gay will play a lot of 2 next to battier on the wing, but I haven't decided if he'll start there.

What's with the trend of playing 3s as 2s out West? Rudy Gay is far more a 4 than he is a 2 at this point.

Gay can play either and he certainly can defend either, but he and Battier can overwhlem opposing wings with their size and Gay with his athleticism. If one has the handles to play SF in todays NBA they have the handles to play 2.
It certainly creates mismatches. I'm almost positive Beaubois will consistently blow by Gay at the 2. However, Gay will shoot over Beaubois like he's not even there. Since in my opinion a shot going to the bucket is a better shot than a jumper I prefer to go with a combo guard at the 2 rather than a large 3. I know a large 3 will be able to post up Beaubois but I have Josh Smith and Haywood behind him to block the shot.

Or Gay could bully his way past Roddy. meanwhile all Gay has to do is funnel Roddy at Emeka or Amar'e.

My take -- Gay and Roddy will exchange buckets at a similar clip. Neither is able to defend the other. Gay could do a better job on Roddy than the other way around but I don't like the help he's going to get on pick and rolls from the big men so I am calling that equal in terms of offense/defense.

Gay will out-rebound Roddy though which will give his team extra possessions and give him the advantage over Beaubois.

Disappointed that I was not involved in such a deal. You know I love those "blockbusters", GC.

Not a fan of your starting SG, SF, or PF. They are certainly rotation-worthy, but I'm not sure about how they do against opposing starters.

What? Nobody consulted me, add in me and lucky and could have been the famous 4 team deal.

Compared to the 09 Cavs that won 66 games:

Jennings > Mo Williams
Mike Miller = Delonte West
Lebron James = Lebron James
Ersan Ilyasova < Varejao
Noah > Ilgauskus

I don't see any reason this team can't be as good

McGrady is a waste of a roster spot, I think.

Start Green over Beasley. Get some muscle for the bench, a defensive wing, and perhaps a vet PG, a steady hand.

My one thought is why is Beasley starting over Green?

LeBron is the most important player for this team, but not by that much. Team rises and falls with Jennings. I agree with CFF's favorable comparison to Mo Williams.

Zero offense from the bench. Need another scorer for when the starters need a rest. A PF with some muscle might help too.
