I'm not going to read through this entire thread so forgive me if this has already been asked, but where on earth are Butler and Jamison going to play.  Pierce and Garnett are your 3 and 4.  You going to move Garnett to the 5?  Sit him?

Are you going to put Butler at the 2?

I am not sure if this trade makes a ton of sense.  Sometimes big names aren't always what a team needs.

But, as a Cavs fan, I say go for it.  Butler and Jamison have never been able to beat the Cavs.  :)

even if Ray doesn't get bought out, there is no drawback to this trade for the celtics, it's a home run. If he does get bought out and comes back, I fully expect a league investigation because this would be a bigger steal than the Gasol to LA deal.

I guessing Baby get included in this deal. He is fairly cheap for next season, and semi-talented.

More likely the discussion has probably turned to draft picks.  How many 1st will Boston include?  One or two.

Wdleehi, you think it's realistic to include Miller and Stevenson (who they will insist upon in any Butler / Jamison deal) to get them under the lux tax?

If you take Scali out of the deal, it still works.  Then, the Wiz can save 4 million.

You mean like this?

Logically Butler would play the 2 and Jamison would come off the bench.

LJ vs all this talent in the ECF.. Now that would be nice to see.

Its business. Remember how the 2007 Celtics trades got the ball rolling in the NBA. Cleveland was active, Lakers got active, Spurs got active, Orlando got active, Atlanta got active......... This makes the NBA better, and it keeps the buzz going. It just happens Danny that Celtics got the best GM in the NBA $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

As much as I'd like to see this happen, I highly doubt it will.

The trading Ray in a three way, getting a backup PG, getting a younger more athletic 2/3, getting another starting quality big for the bench, AND getting Ray back...

you think we're asking for too much?  ::)

We can always cross our fingers :)

for some reason I think that if a dream trade like this one happens
its eaasier to think the rays comeback
as tb says somewhere

I agree, where else is he gonna go? He'd only want to go to a contender.

The Lakers are full of guards,

Dallas could use a shooting guard to replace their pathetic Kidd/Barrea lineup,

Phoenix could always use a sharpshooter who's weakness is defense,

He'd be useful in Utah,

Ray in OKC would be an interesting team but probably only to get out of the first round.

I'd say that our team right now is built to beat the Laker's and Cav's in the playoffs, so if we built the team even more with these guys Ray's best championship bet would be right back here.

That puts the Celtics way over for this season, add luxury tax. Scal has to be included for the sake of even $$trade.

Both Butler and Pierce can and have played the two in the past, i don't see the problem. Since butler is younger and quicker, i'd simply go:

PG:Rondo
SG: Butler
SF: Pierce
PF: KG
C: Perk

Sixth man: Jamison

Rest of Rotation:

Daniels
Sheed
TA
Baby
House

I'm not being Flip MAC, i just don't see where this huge issue you see with playing them at once is.
