Now if you want to talk about Antoine, who openly said he’d take a reduced role and minimum money, and still has no offers hey I’ll agree with you there.
Toine did in fact, take a reduced role on the Heat's championship team and did the same for other teams. The difference is that Toine's a 6'8" point [not power] forward and has been able to perform in that role, even when he was on the C's.
He was never an MVP candidate and did perform well against a better Pacer's team for us, albeit, as Pierce's 2nd ball handler. His deficiencies was when he thought he could be a power forward and play down low (only to get mugged) & the fact that he took 3's w/o any thought.
Thus, given enough conditioning, highly unlikely given that it's Walker

, Toine could be a Laker's old Bob McAdoo for us off the bench, as he'd make medium height forwards actually try to cover him actively. And on defense, he could cover a shorter guy and possibly snag a rebound or two. That's a 10th man role; and yes, he wouldn't be the 1st man off the bench.
Is that better than Iverson in theory, yes, because at A.I.'s age (plus diminished height), his jumpers will be better contested and his drives to the basket won't be as easy w/o his high burst crossover patterns of yesteryear. And unlike Walker, A.I. isn't motivated to make a pass. Walker was one of the descent passers during the Jim O'Brien era and that's not something he's forgotten.
Of course, if Pierce becomes our sixth man, then Walker doesn't have a role on the bench except as a pine warmer, in case of injury. A.I., however, can substitute for either Ray Ray or Rondo/West, which makes being a guard, a better roster spot, then just a point forward. The problem is that I don't have faith in A.I. because he's never done it before.
