Agreed with that. If we get the Question Mark we might as well see if Allan Houston or Latrell Sprewell are available.

my thoughts exactly, he is getting old and is cancer to any team. I do not believe he will help this team out. I prefer Delonte as he is a taller and better defender.

I'd take a pass on him as well.   Once he started losing his elite speed I wasn't interested in him.    He has always been more of a volume scorer and speed guy than pure shooter.   I don't think we can rely on him to score, beat his mean off the dribble or defend.

I think he would take the place of Carlos Arroyo/Nate Robinson if he played for us.

There are easily five other guys I'd take ahead of AI...fora  backup role.  He's done.

Iverson would be a good fit, he can still play at a high level.

I wouldn't mind him in Green next year.

If Danny decides to bring him in, then I know he'd help us.

The majority of the so-called "malcontents" that Danny has brought in over the years have worked out well in Boston:

Stephon Marbury - helped us win a playoff game - just like Doc predicted he would. Came in and for the most part was a good soldier and didn't cause ripples.

Sheed - yeah he seemed to not really play until the playoffs, for various reasons - but BOY did Rasheed Wallace play his tail off in that playoff run in 2009-10.

Therefore, IMO, if Danny brought Allen Iverson in here I have faith that between Doc and the team he'd be surrounded with he would work in Green, and help the team.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I'd be willing to take a flyer on him. This is of course based on the assumption that the last few seasons have humbled him. I'd invite him to training camp see what he has left in the tank if he's able to outplay AB and can still score I'd sign him to the Vet min. Best case scenario he is a great scorer for us off the bench. Worse case scenario we cut him because he starts acting like a diva again. I think at this point AI just wants to play in the league and try to repair his legacy a bit.

I think the only malcontent above was Marbury and for the most part, a lot of it had to do with Isiah Thomas's Knicks, not Marbury himself. It's like working for Microsoft and being blamed for Vista. Really, it's Ballmer's or Gate's fault for making their men work on bloatware.

And Sheed's main issue was the refs which only tells me that he's an honest fella, more than anything else. All of Sheed's teammates have enjoyed working with him and he's quite a top tier b-ball player on all areas.

I do not believe that A.I. is like any of the above. I believe he was the only true ball hogger, elected for league MVP. He hasn't gotten along with any teammates or coaches, for the entire duration of his career. That's a tall rap sheet to recover from, esp when one is undersized and not in one's late 20s anymore.

I honestly don't want A.I. around for any reason.

actually now to think of it, why not experiment with him for the right price. Just sign him for one year and see how that goes...

you made an excellent point in Sheed and Marbury, while they were here, they did indeed helped us and didnt cause problems...then the Marbury tweet when he decided to leave =\...

Not sure where the ball hogger rep came from, nor the rep of him not getting along with his teammates - especially in Philly.

Looking at his stats here on Basketball Reference tells me that he did have a few seasons not shooting well, but overall he was a dynamic player. He basically carried Philly to the Finals vs LA.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/i/iversal01.html

Plus, he seemed to be in more of a giving mood assists-wise towards the latter part of his career and in the playoffs.

If he came to Boston he'd be a backup, and from what he's been saying in the media he wants to help out in any capacity.

Of course he's not the AI of old, but in spot minutes I believe he'd help us.

I'd love to have Allen Iverson in Green, even at this stage. He always seemed to play with a chip on his shoulder, and if he got around our wiley veterans he'd fit right in.

If nothing else, I think his presence could be good for Rondo's development.  They have a lot of similarities.  They are both lightning fast, athletic (at least used to be, in Iverson's case) little guys who exhibit traits of fearlessness taking it inside against bigger guys.  On the other hand, they are polar opposites in some ways.  Rondo is a very reluctant shooter who prefers to pass to open teammates while Iverson rarely met a shot he didn't like.

I know it sounds crazy, but I also think there's something there personality-wise which could click with those two.  They've both been accused of being stubborn and hard headed, and I think the two would be destined to have some fiery clashes.  There's no way Rondo would defer to Iverson.  On the other hand, Iverson would want to show this young upstart that he still has something left.

I like the idea.

There are a load of Unrestricted Free Agents out there, and one name I would love to see back is Leon Powe.

OJ Mayo benched him with his play.  This isn't the AI whom some like.

We are talking about a 36 year old who shoots .41 % from the field and .33% from trey land.  He played 31 MPG and averaged 13.1 and .7 steals.

Let's make a list of what the Celtics need and see if Iverson can help us these.
1) Youth.  Iverson is 36 years old.
2) Athleticism.  Iverson was an athletic player.  It's possible that he still is.
3) Size.  Remember Nate Robinson?  Iverson is still very undersized in the NBA.
4) Reliability.  Injuries have ended Iverson's latest stint at Turkey.
5) Shooting.  At no point in his career was Iverson a great shooter.
6) Scoring.  As someone who relied on his quickness and athleticism to score, father time has not been kind to his game.
7) Defense.  Never been known for his defense, I doubt that his reduced speed and athleticism combined with his lack of size will improve his legacy on this end of the floor.
8 ) Chemistry.  Historically he's been an awful locker room guy.   We already have plenty of experience and excellent role models.

I think Iverson would be perfect in either LA or Miami.  LA because the triangle doesn't need a true point so his size wouldn't be a huge issue.  Miami because I just love this line-up: Iverson, Wade, Lebron, Bosh, Curry.  I might actually enjoy watching Miami games just to watch that on court chemistry.
