No. Never.

I put up with Sheed.
I didn't say much about Shaq.

But I'd not watch the Celtics if they had AI. He is one of the problems I've had with the NBA over the last few years. I "sports hate" that punk.

What does that even mean?  Sheed played well in the playoffs two years ago and Shaq was brilliant when he was healthy.  If they're the shoes that AI fills, we'd be quite lucky.
It means I hated SHeed. And even in Green I still hated him.
It means I can't stand Shaq. And even in the 3-4 games he played in this past year I still don't like him.

And it means I loathe AI. I can't stand him as a player of from what I've seen of him as a person too. He's in my top 5 of all time most hated NBA players. And I couldn't watch Boston if he was on our team. I don't ever want to see that scum bag in the NBA again.

Oh, and if AI still could give a team anything he'd never left the NBA. The guy is done. It's over. We don't need another has been on this team.

I don't particularly like Iverson either; however, let's not go overboard.  Why's he such a scumbag?

And let's remember the Celtics of yesteryear were hardly saints.  Len Bias and Reggie Lewis were drug addicts.  Robert Parish was involved in domestic abuse charges and Larry Bird was a deadbeat dad.

If it was 2008 or 2009, we could turn our noses at Iverson; however, we don't have a lot of options these days.  If free agents want to win a title, they're probably better served going to Miami, Chicago, Dallas, or LA.  If they want money, we have no cap space, and with the window closing, Danny will likely be loath to give anyone more than a 1 year deal.

When you work with those constraints, you're left looking at guys like AI.

1. Len Bias was never a Celtic. He died before he ever became one.
2. Larry Bird was not a "deadbeat dad." I don't understand why people say that. A deadbeat dad is a man who won't pay his share of the bills for the child. It's true that Bird didn't have much to do with his daughter. But he paid for he like the law says and that means he was not a "deadbeat."

I've been a Celtics fan for over 30 years. I've not liked many players that have been on the team over that time. I've looked the other way and pulled for them because they had on green. But I could not do it for AI. If he was on the Celtics I'd have to walk away from the NBA until he was gone and then come back. I hate him that much.

I can understand not liking Iverson's game, but I can't understand the venomous levels of hatred of him as a person.

The more I think the about it, the more intrigued I get.

Quite frankly, given this team's need for a bench score, AI may not have to adjust his game at all to fit in here.  I don't see him fitting in well with the starters; however, if Doc sat him down and said, "listen, we're going to put you on the court with Delonte, Jeff Green, Baby, and (center of your choice).  Once you're out there, you can pretend like it's 2001," I see it potentially working out pretty well.  Like Eric Snow did, Delonte could bring the ball up the court, while guarding opposing shooting guards.

The biggest complaint about Jeff Green and our bench in general was that no one would step up and score.  That won't be a problem for Allen Iverson.

I'd only play him for 10-15 mpg and rarely with the starters.  However, in those 10-15 mpg, let him go nuts.  He isn't what he once was, but I could see him easily torching opposing bench players.

Again, Allen Iverson is a player I've disliked his whole NBA career.  He certainly isn't the guy we need out there at the end of games.  However, for a team that's becoming less and less of a free agent destination (due to age, weather, and likely Danny's hesitancy to give any free agent more than a 1 year deal), we may not have many other options that could potentially yield such an impact.

Invite him to training camp.  Give him a partially guaranteed contract, if it works cool, if not, cut him loose.  If he comes in and plays 10 minutes, scores 4-5 pts, it wouldn't be so bad.  I am not sure I'd want him as Rondo's back up though.  I'd like him as your 11th-12th guy, let him come in and score and then have him go sit down.

I'm sure Iverson would handle this scenario with his typical grace and dignity...And not be a disruption at all.

Any minutes given to this over rated, ball hog, primadonna of a player and PERSON, are minutes not being given to a 20 year old, 1st round pick that was a former high school player of the year, who both management and the coaching staff have very high expectations on. I would rather Avery Bradley get the minutes and develop and become a player than watch Iverson prove he is no longer a player.

That's the whole point of the partially guaranteed contract.  If it doesn't work, cut him!

My name is TitleMaster and I'm issuing my proclamation.

If this lockout is resolved, I do not want to see Allen Iverson on the 2011-2012 (or for that matter, any season) Celtics.

I was disgusted when I heard that there was a poll on it. Here's my summary statement on who A.I. is ...

A.I. is a 36 year old volume shooting undersized SG. That's all he is.

Thus, his late 90s/early 00s crossover dribbling antics and scoring off the dribble against taller players was based upon his innate abilities as a kid.

Today, he's washed up, undersized, and pretty much useless on the 2nd squad unless the opposing team is so stupid, as to not put a taller defender between him and the basket. In that defense sequence, A.I is not immediate 'points off the bench', as we'd like. Instead, he's a complete liability on the 2nd squad, as he'll be taking a majority of the shots and then, be too short (and a step behind) to cover his man on defense.

I say ... get a true sixth man, and then, supplement him w/ role players. That's how one can maintain a lead and/or prevent the opponent from going on a run.
