Someone mentioned him earlier, so I decided to check his stats from 2009-2010.  They are really NOT bad.  Could we use 12-14 points, 4 assists and less than 2 TO's, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal off the bench?  Of course we could.

I have a feeling AI will be in Green next year!!!

At first I thought,,,,,hmmmmmm   wonder if Stephen Marbury put you up to this...
Then I realized, that the real machiaveli behind this posting was non other than Antoine Walker,
Come on out 'Toine,,,we know its you!  You figured that if people thought we were getting Iverson,
they would go be up in arms, a regular Boston Tea Party, and then you could sneak in the back door of CauseWay Street
and we would be so happy to see you.

Tsk Tsk Tsk,,,,,,,Luckily I figured it out and have squashed the shot jacking rebellion!

didnt we do this with Stephon Marbury two years ago?

Marbury, Gilbert Arenas, Iverson....these guys who are use to having offenses run through them and having the ball in their hands 90% of the time just dont work well on a team that tries to move the ball around on offense and get everyone involved.  They cant be guys that come off of picks and are spot up shooters in short spurts.

I dont care if their gonna run the 2nd unit and be off the bench or whatever.  In games that count, Rondo plays 38-40+ minutes.  So theyll either have to learn to run around be a recipient of one of Rondos passes if he finds them open, or they just wont play or be effective in games that we'll really need them. Again, see Stephon Marbury

Well, at the minimum, it'd probably be worth a shot.  I don't think it'd likely work out; however, given how well it could work if it did, I think it's worth a minimum contract.

The simple fact of the matter is that with the core getting another year older, we need all the weapons we can get to compensate.  Again, if he came here I think the smart money says it doesn't work.  But for the minimum, why not?

Iversons era in the NBA is over.  No more teams with one player that wants the rock and everyone to get out of his way.  Teams are being built now.  TEAMS!!  Thats the other guys that have to practice but he doesnt bc hes the star.

I dont buy for a minute that he wants some meager role on a championship team to resume his career.  Iverson has always been about himself, his spotlight, his attention, his starting spot and how many touches hes getting.

This may sound harsh and a little over the top but I hope Iverson never plays another minute in the NBA again.

Right now I think for most people who really do follow the game know he is a great example of what kind of professional young players should not want to grow up to be like.

I agree Iverson probably won't play and doesn't really have a spot, but how can you say the NBA is evolving into a team game when one of the teams in the final relies on 1 on 1 play more than any team in recent memory (the heat). The heat represent the opposite of the celtics in that they just give it to either Wade or Lebron and get out of the way. Those two can't even work together unless it is a fast break. Sort of off topic but found it funny to say teams were being built that don't have guys dominating the ball when we have the heat team.

Maybe because i'm i've always been a fan of AI,(He's one of my favorite non-celtics) and I can somewhat agree with many of you who dont' want to see him in green but why so much Iverson hate? What I don't understand is how come the league is more willing to give a second chance to guys kicked out the league for being druggies (ie Roy Tarpley, chris andersen,Vin Baker Hell even Shawn Kemp was invited for workouts to maybe come back) yet & still AI and guys like Marbury are shunned with extreme hate from fans. Someone help me explain that. Call me crazy but I'd be more willing to give a guy a chance with supposes "attitude" problems as opposed to a dopehead any day. Not that I don't think they should be given a chance either i'm just saying.

From yesterday (apparently he wants back in the NBA):

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2011/06/allen-iverson-wants-to-make-a-comeback.html

"Just give me a training camp. Maybe I've rubbed people the wrong way as far as saying the things I've said in my life and in my career. But if any team needs me to help try and win a championship in any capacity, I'm waiting."

Easier said than done.  But still I don't think I've ever heard anything like that come out of his mouth.

Man. I used to really, really like Iverson. But signing him is really, really irrational. He is the fan's version of "The Crazy Ex-Girlfriend."

Fair enough.  But if you can channel that energy in a positive way for absolutely no more than 1 year, it can be a beautiful thing.

Think Randy's first year.

Eric....Ask the coaches he undermined how many chances he's had.  Ask the last two teams he tanked under how many chances he's had.

I think the number of chances this clown with the "supposes" attitude problems have been given..And what he's done with those chances...Speaks to the overwhelming interest currently showed by NBA GMs.  Pathetic for a guy as talented as he is... But he made the bed he's laying in over a long and grossly overrated NBA career.

At least the druggies played team ball when they were on the court and weren't selfish "me first" ****s like Iverson.

I just don't get how anyone can be a fan of Iverson or players of his ilk.  Why?  He epitomizes all that's wrong with the game.  Always has.  He doesn't really care about winning, just about his stats and himself.  Oh sure, he'll try to win but only if it's on his terms regardless of whether those terms are what's best for the team.  He's a cancer to the game of basketball and should have been bounced from the league far sooner than he was.  Influenced too many young players to be self-absorbed.

I'm hardpressed to think of any single player I despise on a personal level more than Iverson.  (Bron and Wade are getting there though but due to stacking the deck in their favor and their general arrogance now.  And as always, I despise anyone wearing a Laker uniform but that's simply because they're Lakers.)

Does anybody honestly think Iverson would ever be happy coming off the bench for 10 minutes a game behind Rondo and sharing the ball/defending the way Doc wants this team to do??  I don't.  When Iverson is unhappy he is a complete distraction.

Cassell drove me nuts for just about every minute he spent on the floor with this team.  Iverson is more of a ball hog and less of a defender then Cassell was.

You know what would be a great situation for Iverson? A team that was on the brink of being a playoff contender that was willing to give him a chance as a 6th Man and be the primary scorer on the floor. A team with enough youth to have something to prove and enough talent to evolve into a solid team. Also, a franchise that needed a boost in popularity to pick up season ticket sales by having a guy like AI on the roster

Oh wait....

That's the Memphis Grizzlies. He already had that chance and decided to walk away from it after 3 games.

Second chances are rare opportunites and he spit his in the face.

I'm sure there's a team in China looking for someone to "guard" Marbury.
