I love Hill and I would like to have him on the team. However his health worries me, and that's why I would have preferred that we consider a young wing backup before Hill... but now that all interesting wing/guard free agents seem to be signed by other teams, I really want us to sign Grant, especially because otherwise we will end up with Tony Allen as Pierce's primary backup...

With would mean - again - that Pierce has no competent backup, and will be burned up by the playoffs.

I agree. If we don't get Hill, the next alternative is to try to spin a trash bag worth of expirings into someone who can help.

We cannot go into next season as year 7 of the Tony Allen fraud.

I don't quite understand why a player who has made $100+ million over his career couldn't have moved to NYC before now, or couldn't move there next season even if Hill is playing in Boston.  Heck, Hill can live in NYC and Wyc can charter him a jet to commute.

Her career suffering is debatable. Would anyone even know her name without Grant Hill?

The thing I don't get is, I believe Orlando wanted him back before he signed with the Suns and took a discounted contract with them to win a championship. His career has only a couple years left and he could be closing the door on ever winning a championship

I knew of her before she married Grant Hill. She has a great voice.

Where did I say I don't respect his decision?  However, the proffered reason -- that NYC is better for her career -- doesn't make much sense to me. If New York was their dream destination all along, for instance, why don't they have an off-season home there?  One would think that they could afford it.

Also, of course, the Hills are apparently strongly considering remaining in Phoenix.  Does Phoenix have that much better of a music scene than Boston does?

I agree with Roy. It does not make sense to me. My theory is that the agent is pumping up the NY offer hoping to get more money from Phoenix. I think we are out of the picture at this juncture.  Our only distinguishing asset is the opportunity to play for a championship. If Hill had placed much value in that, he would have already committed. He is not coming here, the way I read it.

Well to say "no way" when he hasn't committed to anyone yet sounds a little melodramatic. He could just be weighing his options. Not everyone gets weak-kneed instantly at the thought at playing for us..

I've actually voiced my wants for this team numerous times.  Most of posts aren't complaints, i'm just trying to argue my side and support my opinions.  Do not call me negative because i am one of the biggest Celtics fans you will meet.
What i think the team needs is the same as anybody, a point guard, a swingman, and a big muscle who can rebound.  Trading off our expiring contracts, Scal, TA, Pruitt, Walker, Giddens (8 mil) seems common sense to me.
That question was actually serious, i've heard a lot of concerns about Hill's age and injuries and i kinda agree.  Yet people still think he's our best option and i don't really see anything that sticks out.
FYI this is a FORUM, I'm not gonna sit around and say 'wow, Sheed was a great move, who agrees with me?'  I'm gonna get in there and voice my opinions as strong as they might be.
