This trade seems like some serious.  Are we sure Charlotte and Denver aren't actually the same person

If any GMs are looking for an Assistant GM and need help in drafting their team (specifically because they won't be around at their draft time) I would be happy to help anyone out and place the picks. You can give me your list and I will pick based on your criteria for what is available, and help look for trades and just be another mind to bounce ideas off of.  I gladly join any team that would like any assistance.

I have to agree with those who think this trade is a little lopsided.  A second round pick for moving up six spots?  I'm not a fan.

Everyone (especially the new guys) need to be more patient and think about what they are trading.  You are trying to build a team, not get the best first player you can get.

There is real high value to 2nd round picks once the 2nd round begins.  To throw them away.

Finally, the amount of interest on you pick will increase as your pick becomes closer.  If you are picking 15th, your pick will be worth more when the 11th pick is selected vs. 3 days before the draft.

I hope player think about this warning.  Otherwise, the best teams will be decided before the draft even begins.  It is easy to build a good team when you have 6 picks in the 1st 4 rounds.

So was that trade allowed or vetoed, cause i think it should be vetoed in my opinion somebody is obviously being taken advantage of to the detriment of the rest of the league.

It went through.  Like many of the other lopsided trades.  Until there are players involved, it is hard to reject trades.  It is about how much moving up is valued by the posters trading.

Toronto-AP-  August 1, 2008  Kwhit10 has joined the Toronto Raptors as an Assistant GM. Rondo2287 was quoted, "I would be happy to have you join the raptors." The Raptors fans are excited for the new arrival and are anxious to see how the upcoming draft plays out.

Too bad...too bad, if the commissioners only action on this is to kindly remind us of the value throughout the draft, I'll get my two cents in.  Take a look at John Hollingers PER rankings, just google it and you'll find them.  There will be a lot of value in the second round.  Especially when the time comes and someone drops.

It's for this reason that I wonder about the draft times.  On the subject of players unexpectedly dropping, is the commissioners suggestion to work out trades for picks prior to our slot being up?  Five minutes will be really rushed to deal with trade offers, it seems.

My suggestions is be prepared to make trades.

My second suggestion is to use the Chat.  There is no waiting for PM responses.  Private Instant messages.  Ability to have more then one IM going on.

Plus, you can draft the player everyone wants, and continue to negotiate a trade.

Toronto-AP The Toronto Raptors would like it to be known that they are currently looking to trade their 3rd and 5th round picks.  They will be looking for at least second round value in this trade, but are in the end hoping to trade the two picks to Green Bay for Brett Favre straight up.

I wasn't a fan of some of the lopsided trades, but if the real NBA allows Chris Wallace to make the trades he does, then I think that wdleehi's veto power should be used sparingly.  This is all for fun, after all.

Just remember that this is a game without any prizes, or real bragging rights.  I mean, who "won" this thing last year?  Does anybody remember?

(It was LarBrd33, I think, followed by the G.M. of the Celtics and Donoghus, in that order.)

Yeah, who was that GM of the Celtics last year?  Can't remember.  I think he stopped posting after that.   ;)

I'm getting annoyed with all the GM police whining.  If you guys don't like the moves being made then stop your crybaby complaining and make your own.   You all sound like the crybaby GM's who wha-wha'd when Pau Gasol was sent to the Lakers for nothing.

What's with this safety net on trades?  If someone places value on a pick over another then so be it.  ONe guy just traded his 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick for a chance to pick top 5.  Personally I thought that was a ridiculous trade, but I don't need half the league and the commish giving "tips" to the guy.  My thought is Bravo on #5 for getting such great value for his pick.   I applaud his GM'ing ability.   Meanwhile, I just inquired on a top 7 pick and was told "It will cost you a 1st, 2nd and 3rd).   I told the guy he was nuts and moved on (the equivalent to hanging up the phone).   I don't need a safety net in the event I make a dumb decision.  It negates the entire point of this game... to see which GM can build the best team.    Additionally... right now we are just talking about theory and strategy.  YOu're looking at numbers and not even actual talent.   If a guy is willing to sacrifice his late 1st round pick, his 2nd round pick and his 3rd round pick... SO BE IT.... perhaps he is targeting a specific fellow (Kobe?  KG?  CP?  Howard) and believes after nabbing that top 5 guy he'll be able to put him on the market and receive 4-5 guys for it.   It's strategy folks.  If his strategy is to take KG and then try to get Telfair, Big Al, Gomes, Gerald Green and a late round pick... so be it.   I applaud his creativity.

It's a game.  Lets play it and have fun.   Last year we had some terrible trades... but look around the NBA and you'll see some terrible trades as well.  This is a messageboard forum about the Celtics where everyone claims, "Man I could do a better job than ___" and people start dozens of trade threads for their input on what team A and team B should do.   That's the concept this game is built around.  So you think you can be an NBA GM?... well lets see... :)

I think the first time I see a trade "vetoed" that isn't clearly ridiculous (like LeBron for Tony Allen), I'll probably quit the thing.   lol

Last point:  When we get into the draft we are going to see some pretty dumb stuff too.  If someone decides to take Paul Pierce over Kobe Bryant (hey 4-5 posters were arguing with me yesterday that Pierce clearly "outplayed" Kobe in the playoffs) are we going to "veto" that move too?   Nah.... lettem play the game, folks.

The Orlando Magic are still very interested in moving up/down/out of the 2nd round (#17), but are on a top secret scouting trip to Macon, GA looking at a total unknown for their 1st round pick, so replies may take a little longer.  GM Gainesville Celtic's girlfr..., er Director of Player Personnel, isn't taking kindly to the GM texting during vacation  ;D

We're looking for an Asst. GM and are discussing it with an off-list candidate, but could take on an Assistant to the Assistant GM.

Finally the Magic are announcing a new policy of awarding TPs to GMs with whom we have discussions on trades that include 4th round picks.
