I don't think KC's trade was bad, at all.  That fifth rounder is going to turn out to be a starter.

Now, if you want to talk bad trades, does anybody remember this one from last season?  We had a player pick Carlos Boozer in the first round.  He then trades Boozer and a #3 for a second-rounder, so he can take Luol Deng.

That's right:  He traded a #1 and a #3 for a #2.  I think it's trades like those that led to us needing "trade approval" this year.

LOL. I remember that. I was literally rolling on the floor laughing when I first heard about it.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

There were some extremely questionable trades last year. I felt like I had the best Western Conference team until a slew of trades put me probably in 3rd place.

A good reference if you're at home (which I won't be) would probably be 2k8/live. Go to game modes, and select association and be all 30 users. Draft the players when they're selected and you'll have a decent reference tool.

Granted there's a few players who "made the jump" (though not ALL that many I could think of: Josh Smith and Monta Ellis stick out. And even those guys would be easy to notice if you're ranking by position) and there won't be any rookies, it still would be a great asset to use.

John Hollinger's PER ranking makes up a pretty good list.

Don't know if I missed this on any of the threads earlier pages (in which case I apologize), but what's the story with regard to salary considerations for this exercise?

No salary cap.  We're essentially drafting in a vaccuum.  No salary restrictions.

Actually, Edgar, it depends upon post count.  Plus, mods don't have limits on their number of PMs.

For newbie posters, the PM limit is actually quite low.

EDIT:  I just looked, and for anybody with 75+ posts, the limit is 25.  I think that goes up to 50 at 500 posts.  For below 75, I think the limit is 15 (or in some cases of extremely small post counts, even lower).

Last year I joined like a month before we did this so I had a relatively low post count. However doing a draft your post count beefs up extremely quickly and the pm restrictions become less and less of a problem as it progresses.
