ESPN Sources: Free agent Buddy Hield is joining Golden State on a sign-and-trade deal guaranteed for two years and $21 million. Hield gets $18M in first two years, a $3M partial guarantee in 3rd year and player option on non-guaranteed 4th year. Warriors send Sixers 2031 second

The Warriors went small towards the end of last season with Kuminga at PF and Draymond at C. I thought they would revert back to a normal lineup this year but I see many on twitter expect that small to continue. If that is the case, I would guess their depth chart would be:

G: Steph, G Payton III
G: Podz, D Melton
F: A Wiggins, B Hield, Moody
F: Kuminga, Slow-Mo
C: Draymond, T Jackson-Davis, Looney

Rookie forward Pacome Dadiet agreed to sign with the New York Knicks for 80% of his rookie scale amount. Players picked in the first round are eligible to sign for at least 80% and up to 120% of the rookie scale. Most players sign for 120% of the scale amount.

Dadiet may have gotten a promise from the Knicks that he would be drafted in the first round, if he took less than the scale amount. This will result in over $900 thousand in in savings for New York. That amount is significant, as the Knicks are trying to create as much wiggle room as possible to say below the tax aprons.

Cheap was my first thought ...

But if they promised to take him in early in exchange for him taking a smaller amount, that is not so bad. So long as they weren't bullying him into the lower amount. I don't like it when teams bully rookies.

I don't understand Dallas bringing Markieff Morris back.

They have three bigs already in Gafford, Lively & Kleber. There is no role there for him to fill.

They like his as a locker room guy apparently.

I hate this locker room nonsense. It just a waste of a roster spot.

It's a little funny to me that a C's fan who survived the 18/19 season wouldn't get the importance of locker room balance. I don't have a problem at all using a roster spot on a guy who brings the right mix to the locker room and can boost camadarie.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

sixers fans are funny acting like paul george is the savior. how is this any different than having James harden(with tobias harris). or the team that had jimmy butler and harris and reddick.

I do think it makes them better than last year. how much is the question though. Paul george hasn't been the "difference maker" any place he has been. OKC, Clippers....

honestly, i've never seen a player have more all-star or past all-star teammates as Embiid to never make it out the 2nd round.

It's important to have a good locker room but I find it funny that Marcus was one of the locker room problems that we had in 18/19.  Maybe they've matured but I have always felt like the Morris's were jerks.

Did Brissett make a mistake by not opting in? Seems like he?s not getting interest from other teams.

He?ll find somewhere at the minimum.  He was looking for playing time, not money.  Not sure if he?ll find that, but there are a lot of open roster spots around the league still, so he?ll land somewhere.
I think Oshae made a mistake. His poor shooting means he does not fit in well in the Celtics system and he is not likely to get a lot of playing time on this team. Sure he?s got a ring, but he was pretty much unplayable so he does not have much to show for his time in Boston. He is destined to kick around the league as a journeyman, if he is lucky. Otherwise, he could be out of the league soon. Always liked the guy, but the league has changed and hard-nosed rim crashers still need to have an offensive skill to stick.

If the Spurs sign Derozan, how do you see that team doing? CP3, Wemby, Derozan, Vassell, Zach Collins, Sochan could make some noise out west and get Wemby some playoff experience.

Spotrac has him, listed as taking 80% of the rookie scale in year 1, but back up to his full 120% in year 2. It looks like he's just taking the haircut in year 1 to help with apron management. If that's the only cut he took then you'd still obviously be  rookie under that contract than what you'd get in the 2nd round.

It will be interesting to see if we start seeing teams negotiate these first rounders a little going forward. Its typically always been an automatic 120% of scale, but with aprons and taxes mattering more than every teams may try to save money on rookie scales.

I don't feel like Derozan would affect a team like the Spurs alot, but maybe I'm just a bit down on his game. I think he'd be much better as a 3rd banana somewhere like the Lakers.

The West is weird. It looks weaker up top but more competitive than ever for the 4th-8th seed playoff spots. There could be 13 teams in the West with legit playoff hopes if DeRozan went to San Antonio.

G: CP3, Tre Jones
G: D Vassell, S Castle
F: DeRozan, Keldon Johnson
F: Sochan
C: Wemby, Z Collins

Others: Julian Champaigne, Maliki Branham, Juan Nunez, Sidy Cissoko

Sochan is the big X factor there. His defense has been great but his offense is so bad that he has been a net negative. He has shown some development in his shot. I think the Spurs playoff chances will come down to his development.

I wonder a bit about DeRozan here. I feel like him and Wemby operate in similar areas. Both like that mid-post zone. Both like the offense to run through them. DeRozan has never learned how to be a secondary offensive threat. His skill-set is not ideal for it either.

I don't expect CP3 to make much of an impact.

I see most of San An's strength coming from Wemby, D Vassell, Keldon Johnson and maybe Sochan. I see the second strength of this team being useful depth. DeRozan (equal to non-Wemby first tier in impact), T Jones, CP3, Z Collins, S Castle. They would be 9 deep with useful NBA players. That separates them from most basement dwellers.

DeRizan would be best on Orlando, if he'd be willing to take a 6th man role. An accomplished vet who knows the game and isn't afraid of taking big shots.

Clippers re-sign Kai Jones. Non-guaranteed deal.
