DeRizan would be best on Orlando, if he'd be willing to take a 6th man role. An accomplished vet who knows the game and isn't afraid of taking big shots.

I think I disagree. They need floor spacing, and I don't think they should target another forward that needs the ball in his hands.

Gery Woelfel @GeryWoelfel

Sources claim the Bucks are still very receptive to trading veteran Brook Lopez, but the Bucks' asking price of a first-round draft pick for a 36-year-old center with a $23M contract is too rich.

The Cavaliers have the depth to pull that off, though they are still searching for that archetypal 3-and-D wing. (They?d have interest in one of Dorian Finney-Smith and Cameron Johnson in Brooklyn, sources said, but they have only one future first-round pick ? their 2031 pick ? available to trade.)

LeVert, Strus, 2031 1st rounder & pick swaps for DFS & Cam Johnson. Would that be enough? That 2031 1st is such a wild card. Still it may not be enough.

G: Garland
G: D Mitchell
F: Cam Johnson
F: E Mobley, D Finney Smith
C: J Allen, D Wade

per @wojespn: - DeRozan is officially moving on from Chicago with no scenario of re-signing. - Chicago is not willing to take on large salaries in a potential deal, so a third team has to

The Orlando Magic have reached an agreement with Franz Wagner to extend his contract. The German player will earn $270 million over the next five years after signing a contract at the maximum rookie salary.

Lot of money for F Wagner. Still feel there is uncertainty there whether he can be a legit #2 or whether he is more suited to being a #3 guy.

I wouldn't have given him that contract if I were Orlando. I would only extend him now if I got discount. Other than that I am waiting until next summer to see how he does next season. No need to give this contract prematurely.

Breaking: Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner has agreed on a five-year, $224 million maximum rookie contract extension, sources tell @wojespn

A deal that could become worth as much as $269 million.

I presume that is he makes an All-NBA team or something. So $224mil is the more likely number.

Jeez. Franz Wagner with a 224m extension. That's a lot of money for 20-5-3 a game without being able to shoot the 3.

Several non-all-stars being given a big payout or being counted on to be a key piece their team (Mikal Bridges).

Sure, but Franz is a 22 year-old who averaged 20/5/3 in his third season, and is a terrific defender.  He?ll be an All-Star before long, with only his small-market team holding him back.

Don't know why you're bringing up Bridges.  He'd be at the top of the league on a performance/cost basis.  Being an all-star doesn't mean all that much since it is a popularity contest and heavily focused on offensive performance.  I'd much rather have Bridges than 3x All-Star Trae Young for example.

Really?  I suppose it?s the circumstance that a team is in that would influence the choice, but from a pure team start-up perspective - Trey Young goes first for most I would guess.

he shot 35% as a rookie and 36% in his 2nd year. Much larger sample size at over 35% so that is probably more accurate, though there has to be some recency bias.

I almost feel they'd be better off trading Garland. Maybe just DFS, Johnson, and. Knicks 1st for Garland.  Gives Cavs an extra pick and balances roster a bit better.  Just play Mitchell at point.

League sources confirm that Kings and Bulls have discussed a potential sign and trade for DeMar DeRozan. Trade requires a third team, which is lined up, but there is competition for DeRozan's services.

Good extension. Projecting future growth. He?s improved every year in the league.
