I realize that being teammates on a pro sports team is not a typical fellow worker situation. But I can absolutely see not speaking to people after working with them for years, and that not being a reflection of not liking them or not respecting them.  Some people you stay in touch with, some you don?t. IMO it doesn?t mean much that they haven?t spoken in a month.  Could be just that they aren?t friends, which doesn?t mean they hate each other, resent each other, or are glad not to be teammates.

And sometimes long relationships are so steeped in varied emotion that once a separation happens the parties want some time and space before communicating.

JBs and JTs relationship will be different from here out. Maybe they reconnect as old ex-comrades some day and enjoy reminiscing.  Or maybe they despise each other and will never have a kind thought toward the other. Could be anything.  But if it was a *him or me* situation, I hope we kept the right one.

Exactly.  I've worked several jobs where I got along just fine with the people there but outside of work we all had our own lives.  I'm older now with a family and don't really go out after work much.  I had a job when I was in my 20's.  The hours were long.  A group of us got along and would frequently go out on a Thursday.  Weekends though (Fridays included) we all did our own thing.  Over time people left for different reasons.  A few times there were people I really hoped to keep in touch with and for awhile we may have but usually it just fizzled out as we all had our own things to deal with.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

It seems pretty clear that JT and JB were not close. I think it is normal but it does seem like things may have gotten worse over this past year. My guess is that was a part of the reason for trading him. Not the main reason but another element of why they wanted to find a trade for JB.

Time will tell on if that was the right move or not. But do not think we are ever going to really hear about all the details of why it all happened and why JB had such little value.

Daniel Donabedian: Brad Stevens on trading Jaylen Brown: It?s something that you have to just say, do you think where we currently are?will get us to where we ultimately want to go? If not, does it make sense to explore other pathways, even if that could be very tough in the near term?

Honestly don't think too many people argue with the premise of a small step back to take two steps forward.  If the return for JB were better  - either with player or draft compensation - I don't think he'd be hearing anywhere near the negativity.  Many were ready to let go of JB for the right package.  Brad will need to show how this PG contract is going to play out well.  Could get lucky in 2028 (and in 2031) draft which won't really justify the trade, but obviously would be a relief.  But that's relying on luck which really isn't the way to go.  If rumors are true that Giannis could have been had by giving up Baylor and/or Hugo (which I don't really buy), maybe Brad will be proven right about that in time.

Sounds like Brad did not view the current group with JB as a contender. Seems like he did not like the fit. Judging by how the playoffs ended, I?m not sure he is wrong.

Since the JT/JB duo won a title and made the Finals another time, I think the fit was fine.

Sure, if you have Jrue Holiday, Horford, Porzingis and Kornet on the team as well. Unfortunately all those guys are gone.

First, we didn't have all of those guys when first reaching the Ginals.

Second, which team in the East would have been head and shoulders better than us if we'd kept JB and added Robinson while also adding to the coaching staff?

C's would be in the thick of the competition to get to the finals out of the East.  If there were doubts about whether they'd be good enough to get it done, Brad should have changed out the coach first for someone who can actually coach -- particularly making in game adjustments and having an offensive philosophy that's more complex than bomb from 3 and pray the players are having a good shooting game

That 2024 team was supposedly an "all-time" in the books team in NBA history. They were 80-21 that season, and never lost 2+ games in any playoff series. It only worked with Jrue Holiday, Kristaps (huge in the regular season), Horford, Kornet, and Derrick White playing out of his mind.

Still can't believe he gave up Brown for 36 y/o Paul George and picks.

And didn't take Giannis + Portis for Brown, Hugo/Baylor, and picks.

Brad will be held against this.
