Atlanta fighting for the play in game again with Miami and Chicago

Atlanta and Chicago just seem destined to remain in the play-in mediocrity LOL

Might as well name the 9-10 seed matchup "the Hawks/Bulls Invitational"

The fact that Chicago is so mediocre must be infuriating to the league offices. Third largest media market in the country, the team there being competently run would be a boon for the league. The fans there are perpetually loyal even as the team keeps being mediocre.

I am excited to see what Chicago do to start free agency.

Do they blow it up fully?
(1) Will DeRozan have a new team?
(2) They have been trying to trade LaVine prior to making a decision on DeRozan but haven't found a trade yet. Will they trade LaVine? Will they decide we can't find a trade for LaVine so let's just keep DeRozan and roll it back?
(3) Pat Williams is a restricted FA as well. What do they do there?

They have a semi-interesting team after draft day with Buzelis coming in and Giddey coming in from the Caruso trade.

G: Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu
G: Z LaVine
F: Giddey, Pat Williams
F: DeRozan, Matas Buzelis
C: Vucevic

I'd like to see that team play. It is an average squad with no future but there are watchable players there. It would be an enjoyable squad.

A full rebuild is the better long term option. Let DeRozan walk. Maybe let Pat Williams walk. He is not even worth the MLE at this point. Trade Vucevic. Trade LaVine. Rebuild through the draft with Coby White, Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis as early pieces to the puzzle.

Between Gddey, DeRozan and Vucevic they just don't have enough shooting. Thats three below average three point shooters in your starting lineup, its a recipe for a bad offense.

Bey and Wiseman didn't have their offers picked up and are now UFAs.

Any of them interested in ring-chasing for the minimum?  :)

Wiseman is still only 23 I believe. I would risk a min contract on him.

I was wondering about both players. 100% on board with both.

I like getting Wiseman who would also be the Horford replacement in 2 years. Bey, I?m not so sure about.

OKC declined team options for Isaiah Joe & Aaron Wiggins. They are going to try to sign both to long term deals.

Why?

They both play the same position. They are both bench SGs. Both pretty limited in their skill-set. I understand keeping one of them but why bother re-signing both of them?

Neither could answer the bell in the playoffs against Dallas when all they were asked to do was make open jump-shots that Giddey could not.

We can only offer the vet minimum right? If he?s ok with that then it?s worth a shot. A new professional environment might be good for him. He?s still so young and may still have some upside.

Wiseman hasn't lived to his potential yet but I do think some of it is not his fault. He was selected by the Warriors and Kerr didn't really use him as much and the Warriors were already pretty loaded so he didn't get much opportunities to grow and develop. Even Kuminga was going a similar path until GSW played him more last season and he was able to emerge. But Wiseman got traded to Detroit and I think he showed some flashes. Detroit is a terrible team as is so I wouldn't hold any of that against him.

He'd be such a steal for Boston and yeah, I see some potential in him being a Horford replacement down the road or at least a spot starter/legit role player if he can continue to improve.

My gut feeling though is some team might bite and offer him close to, if not the full MLE.

I don't see Wiseman getting more than the minimum. I wouldn't be surprised if nobody offers him a job and he is out of the league.

I thought he did poorly in Detroit and showed minimal progress since the day he entered the league. Very disappointing. Defense still sucks especially team D. His offense is very poor. Almost everything at the rim. Poor passer.

I think Wiseman is a write-off at this point.

We need to keep Derrick White. Gotta agree with "cman" here, Wyc. and Co. aren't going to suffer any financial hardships, gotta pay while we have a top title contender to add more banners with. Save money when it's time to rebuild again, hopefully well down the road.

Having said that, White seems the type of person who would understand the value of staying here and of being reasonable about his contract. He talks all the time about how much he loves playing in Boston and his gratitude that Mazzulla gave him his shot at starting. That's gotta be worth something to the guy. Play on a title team with great chemistry, a well run franchise and an unmatched fan base or force Brad to trade you to a middling team with unknown personalities and an unknown future for money that you will never miss anyway at that salary stratosphere.

Oh okay, honestly you'd know more about this than me

I didn't see much of Wiseman in Detroit tbh

Kevin Love opting out, but reportedly it is only to sign a new contract with Miami. That guy would be perfect here.

Per ESPN- LeBron is willing to make a financial sacrifice to acquire a vet like Klay Thompson, James Harden, or Jonas Valanciunas. If none of those players can be enticed, then LeBron will seek for a max contract with Lakers per Rich Paul
