I don't know about Tatum being informed on the deals. I think he could have been informed if he WANTED to be informed but everything we know about him and his dealings with the team throughout his time in Boston says he stays out of all that stuff. He does not like to be involved. He doesn't want that influence / pressure. He just wants to play ball.
Some players are like that. Some players are the opposite. They want influence. They want a voice. They want to be informed. Some want a major voice and push certain decisions. Nothing about Tatum and his history with this team suggests that. Everything points in the opposite direction. That he likes to stay out of the business of the front office & ownership.
My point = Players being in the know / informed is not a one size fits all. Most guys want it. Some guys don't. Everything we know about Tatum for several years says he does not want it.
I probably should have clarified in my post, I don't mean that Tatum knew every single rumor, report, or trade offer and that he was actively doing stuff behind the scenes. All I meant was that I don't think Tatum had no clue a Jaylen trade and discussions were happening behind the scenes like JT's been saying.
But that's just my opinion. You're also right with your post. Tatum is a player, not a front office member. I just think in the NBA, superstars especially tend to at least be informed or are kept in the loop. Ironically, I think Jaylen lamented the fact that he wasn't and he's said this in the past, that he wished he could offer more input or "be in the room" with Stevens more. Jaylen was also dangled in Durant trade rumors around 2022-2023 often.
And for example, that Luka trade. It was an obvious "of course" trade, but are we all convinced Lebron didn't know about it beforehand or that he wasn't aware they were dangling AD in potential trade offers since that ship started to sink a bit too.
