What would White get if he signed an extension now?  How much less than what Quickley just signed for?

If it is significant, White will likely wait for free agency, give Boston first crack at siging him to a new (close to max) deal, and if they don't, go somewhere that will.  He has earned a lot of value.  Makes me second guess why the Celtics didn't try to take care of this before the start of the season.  D White's market value has jumped, along with the market, since then.

White?s extension would be for $32 million a year and Quickley is getting $35 million years.  The difference is in total years (Celtics can?t extend White for more than 4, Quickley?s deal is for 5, but they end the same year because White still has a year under his current deal).

As for why the Celtics didn?t get this done before the season ? White?s extension would have needed to be even shorter, and he presumably wanted a longer deal.

Quickley just got a 5/175M contract. Insanity
Wow!! What will White get now?

D White is a max contract.

OG Anunoby got max offers from "rival teams". I presume Philadelphia. If Anunoby can get the max, so too can D White.

Anunoby actually took less money to stay in NY. Less money was 5yr $225mil. That is what less money should look like for D White.
then they should trade White now

Why? To make the team worse and hurt out chances at a repeat to save wyc some money?

They will extend him at something like 30-32million a year. Why posters care about the owners money so much I?ll never understand
I have no issue signing him to his 4 year, 126 million or so extension. If he doesn't sign the extension, they should trade him this summer.  And a trade doesn't necessarily make the team worse, depends on what it is.  I wouldn't sign White to 5 years, 225 million though. Way too much money.

I wonder if the backup plan should D White leave be to re-sign Hauser and move him into the starting lineup.

G: Jrue
G: Jaylen
F: Hauser
F: Tatum
C: Porzingis

I have enjoyed Hauser in the starting unit when he has replaced Jaylen or D White. It has worked well. His sharp shooting has been a major weapon.

That is a terrible trade for Atlanta. They couldn't get better value than that? I can't believe that.

Atlanta and Chicago just seem destined to remain in the play-in mediocrity LOL

Might as well name the 9-10 seed matchup "the Hawks/Bulls Invitational"

Some Blazers folks are wondering if Anfernee Simons will be traded this summer. The GM came out and said they were committed to Scoot & Shaedon Sharpe. He left out A Simons.

Rumour mill.

Curse of the Atlanta Hawks still remains. Always a middling team in the East and go one and done in the playoffs or lose the play-ins

Random thought that I entered my head this morning.  With Redick coaching the Lakers I feel like Hauser could end up there if the Celts don?t re-sign him.  Redick was really high on him in the Finals.  He loved Hauser?s effort on the defensive end and the havoc his constant movement created.  It seemed like one of hi ?go to? observations.

Then again maybe JJ won?t last til next year in LA.

I think my subconscious is worried about losing Hauser.

Ron Holland's ability to twist and wiggle his body on both the floor as he drives and in the air as he goes to finish at the rim is highly impressive. That is the type of dynamic finishing small guards like Kyrie need to have. To have that at his size with his speed & athleticism and blow-by-ability is an exciting mix.

I think Ron Holland is one of the most exciting guys in this draft. His defensive talent & effort are impressive too. Just needs to sort that outside shot out. He has star potential.

I see a lot of comparisons to Jaylen Brown being made. The other guy he reminds me of is a young DeMar DeRozan.

I think this is more of a function of Hauser reminding JJ of himself coming off those screens.

The fact that Chicago is so mediocre must be infuriating to the league offices. Third largest media market in the country, the team there being competently run would be a boon for the league. The fans there are perpetually loyal even as the team keeps being mediocre.

I am excited to see what Chicago do to start free agency.

Do they blow it up fully?
(1) Will DeRozan have a new team?
(2) They have been trying to trade LaVine prior to making a decision on DeRozan but haven't found a trade yet. Will they trade LaVine? Will they decide we can't find a trade for LaVine so let's just keep DeRozan and roll it back?
(3) Pat Williams is a restricted FA as well. What do they do there?

They have a semi-interesting team after draft day with Buzelis coming in and Giddey coming in from the Caruso trade.

G: Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu
G: Z LaVine
F: Giddey, Pat Williams
F: DeRozan, Matas Buzelis
C: Vucevic

I'd like to see that team play. It is an average squad with no future but there are watchable players there. It would be an enjoyable squad.

A full rebuild is the better long term option. Let DeRozan walk. Maybe let Pat Williams walk. He is not even worth the MLE at this point. Trade Vucevic. Trade LaVine. Rebuild through the draft with Coby White, Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis as early pieces to the puzzle.
