The fact the sixers have cap space and can?t attract a prime time player is just joyous

The East to me feels like it's Boston-New York-Indiana-Milwaukee in whatever order.

Yes there's still moves to be made but PHI and MIA are slipping. No guarantee Butler even stays in MIA, and PHI needs an impact move and their options are dwindling. Orlando/Cleveland too. If Orlando could grab Klay or George and make another 2nd tier addition then they'd be cooking.

Am I the only one who feels the knicks are overrated even with these moves?

I mean it?s a collection of good role players and no stars. Brunson would be an #3 in Boston. And they have no size with hartenstein basically leaving.

Any team with size will eat them up.

They are a good, well-coached team, but it's possible they overachieved last year and now are all-in when they shouldn't be.

Maybe not though. Lots of good vibes. Good defense. Lots of guys that aren't afraid.

I'm told (Jimmy Butler) will not be signing an extension with the Heat or any other team ahead of his opt-out in 2025 free agency."

@ShamsCharania gave us some updates on Butler's future

They need to address the frontcourt. But then again, they could probably add someone like Drummond and keep Achiuwa as depth behind Robinson. Yes they'll need to rely on Robinson to stay healthy but they can manage.

NY's biggest issue is health. And it was the same last season. Guys dropped like flies even during the playoff run. Anunoby added another dimension to that team but he couldn't stay healthy for most of it.

Paul George to Golden State? Klay to Clippers? I think this may happen

Both teams are in the second apron, which means this trade cannot happen.

Not trade but free agent signing

Both are second apron teams. I think that means neither have the space to sign the other or can get anywhere close to being able to.

Seems to be a pattern with Thibs coached teams. Some of it is bad luck sure.

But when multiple players say it, and it?s happened for different franchises it?s a pattern.

Idk I just feel in any series vs Milwaukee or Boston?..both those teams probably have the 2 best players in the series.

If you account for defense, absolutely. Brunson on the Knicks is kind of like Luka on the Mavs, neither plays any real defense although they are offensively gifted and to their credit have helped their respective teams make deep runs.

I do think New York is a lot more loaded around Brunson though than Doncic with the Mavs. Hart, Randle, OG, Divencenzo, Robinson, etc.

Like yeah, BOS/MIL might have the first two best players, but then after that you could argue NY might have 3 of the next 5 or 4 of the next 6? Especially against MIL, their bench isn't that great and Lopez might not even remain there reportedly.

Lot of offseason left but right now I'd rank the East as Boston then New York Top-2.

I don't think they need a major move. They just need solid role players around their main two and they will be a title contender if Embiid is healthy.

The Mikal Bridges trade reminds me of Minnesota acquiring Rudy Gobert. Giving up a load of picks for a quasi-star non-franchise player non clear cut All-Star.

It worked out well for Minnesota despite the concerns at the time. I expect it will for NY as well.
Minnesota made the conference finals which is nice, and they will still be good next year so the 2025 pick won't be a great pick, but who knows what they will look like in 2027 and 2029 (at least that has top 5 protection).  The Wolves could end up giving the Jazz the next Wemby and not advance further than the conference finals.

As a reminder trade was

Gobert

for

Beasley, Beverley, Bolmaro, Vanderbilt, 2022 1st (Kessler), 2023 1st (Keyonte George), 2025 1st, 2026 swap 1st, 2027 1st, 2029 1st (top 5)

For a franchise that has never made the Finals, making the Conference Finals is still a win. That matches the furthest they've ever been, which was two decades ago. That arguably makes the trade worth it for them, even if they end up being awful in 3-5 years. They and their fans aren't championship-or-bust

Minny still got a couple of runs at this over the next few years. They could end up making the Finals. Even winning a title. The WCF appearance is just the start of a 3-4 year run at it.
