Just need Hayward to demand a trade at this point.

Amazing how 2 injuries doomed the Celtics...first IT and then Hayward.

For as long as I can remember this team has had bad luck. Chuck that leprechaun!

I guess DA is making Brad throw the Timelord into the fire...jumpstart his development.

Can't DA and Al have a compromise by having that 4th yr a team option but with a stipulation like a trade kicker in that if the team does not pick it up, he will still earn so and so amount.....Or if he is not traded halfway through the third yr, then the 4th yr is all but guaranteed or something to that effect.

Yep, because losing 2 guys for nothing wasn’t bad enough. Let’s lose a third for minimal value, when said value can only rise
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Horford leaving is a major gut punch.  Count me as one who thinks Hayward is the next shoe to drop.  I have been very supportive of Gordon, and I think he will be a productive player again, but he clearly has no role as we seem to be fully embracing the youth movement.

With Whiteside opting in for 27 million and Miami having shown interest in Gordon in the past, would either side consider a deal?  I definitely don't see Whiteside as a piece for the future, but he would give us front-court depth and free up some money a year earlier.

I realize how important Al was to this team and our offensive sets. But he is 33 years old. A 4 year contract takes him to 38 years old in the last yer of his contract. No thanks.

The posturing that Al will go sign a 4 year contract with another team. No kidding he will. But I don't believe another team will offer him this. Thus he will return to the negotiation table after testing free agency and if the bridge wasn't burned, we can revisit matching whatever 2 or 3 year offer teams are likely to offer him is within our acceptable range. Or he signs elsewhere and we thank him for his tremendous professionalism, watch the youth movement (more minutes for Time Lord) and see what Danny and Co. are able to pull off with a bunch of young cornerstone players already, enough room to sign a max player and league exception player, and a bevy of draft picks moving forward.

I don't see this as doom and gloom at all.

Loss of value.  If he re-signed and we had another miserable season in 2019-2020, we could trade him if he so wished.  We'd get value in return for that.  Players of Horford's caliber are always of high value.  Losing both Kyrie and Horford for absolutely nothing is a gut punch AND a straight kick to the balls.

I don't entirely agree with your comment. His contract (@ 4 years becomes untradeable at his age).

It would just be the perfect ending to a crap summer so far. I don't want that to happen.

2009, KG goes down and its been a helluva of assortment of injuries during the contending years all the way up to last season. KG, Shaq, JO, AB,Uncle Jeff, KP, RR, IT, KI and GH.....all have cost the Cs a possible 1 or up to three rings.

At this point...nothing will surprise me Thursday. Moving up, moving out, trading for a vet, draft and stash, trading for a future pick...nothing

According to reports, Horford has halted discussions with the Celtics for a 3 year deal and will now look for a 4 year deal elsewhere.

well, if Horford does leave, the C's are toast.  what a fall from presumed Eastern Conf champs this preseason to a team looking at missing the playoffs and back in rebuild mode the next.

have to say, if Kyrie and Horford leave with no AD trade, Danny really needs to take the heat on this mess.  thought he was doing well as a GM but this past season and current offseason has been a real kick in the nuts for fans

Danny took good calculated risk any win now GM’s would do.  Did he cause hayward to break his leg?  Did he make rich Paul sign with AD so AD could be enabled?  Did he make kyrie Irving leave a turd in the playoffs?  As much as I get on Ainge and I’m not a in Danny we trust guy like some, he put this team in the best case scenario to hav one of two things happen...win a title and run it back this year or get bounced in the playoff and still have the core of your youth in tact in the event the vets want to leave.  If kyrie, Ad, and Horford all sign here, it’s a differnt song.  I can’t see how’s this is his fault.

Did you see him waste an entire season or two trying to pry a generational talented big man who refuses to play a single game or minute for the Celtics? I certainly did. As soon as that hint dropped that AD has LA written in him, Ainge should've just moved on and made some midseason moves to make a playoff push.

Don't forget Perk getting hurt and missing game 7 vs the Lakers in 2010. Cost them a title. Rondo getting hurt by Wade..so many.
