Lets see how RJ87 and Goukie88 .. the presidents of Kyrie is life fanclub spin this

If Iam Danny Iam checking out what type of return you can get for Irving.  Irving is not the only one that can take the team hostage

As I have said time and time again, players don't owe loyalty to franchises. This is a business. They should do what's best them If Kyrie decides staying in Boston isn't in his best interest, then that's his right.

Actually they may not but they should ...millions of dollars they are being paid says they should owe a duty of loyalty while under contract and not do anything that would be detrimental to the team. Saying you are not committed to the franchise is disloyalty and frankly should not be tolerated. I do not talk about my free agency until I am a free agent is an acceptable answer. I am a Boston Celtic is an acceptable answer. What is NOT acceptable is yeah I am looking around but Boston is #1. That is detrimental to the team that is paying you right now., and the NBA should find a way to STOP this nonsense.

This is also an important point - the Zinger was one of the reasons NY was an option for Kyrie previously:

Quote
Probably irrelevant given all of New York’s offseason plans, but earlier this year, Kyrie said he considered New York as a free-agent destination in large part because of Kristaps Porzingis.

Of course this is your response

Does the Celtics come 1st or Irving?

So challenging my fandom is appropriate because I understand the realities of the business?

Do you understand the reality of how unsettling this is for the locker room

That is already not on the same page?

Where do you think calling out specific posters & questioning fanhood is gonna get you?

Tone it down.

Al not opting in would be great for Boston if Kyrie goes. But Al has been here before him and I don't expect him to leave no matter what Kyrie does.

No matter what happens I want Horford in Boston until he retires.  He's my favorite player on the team right now.

Whether they're falling back to being just a decent playoff team with a lot of young guys or actively contending, I want Horford to be there on and off the court to set an example and stabilize things.

I'll play the optimistic person and say that Kyrie only says this because even after saying he'd re-sign here, people (especially here) are still asking him about it and strongly believe he won't. Even if Kyrie said again he'd re-sign here, you'd have the likes of Triboy16 downplaying it anyways  :P

Nope. If he wanted this to end, he would have said, "I said that I'm going to stay and haven't changed my mind. If I do, I'll let you know then. Please drop it."

Mike

Look, while I think Kyrie had good intentions when he stated that he was resigning here before the season, it was shortsighted, as things can change over the course of the season.

I think he's learned that now and will not (and should not) make any bold proclamations about his plans for this summer on February 1st. That just doesn't make any sense practically, as it sets you up for bad press down the line.

Do you know how much money franchises generate from players? Honestly, it far exceeds what players are allowed to make under the CBA. That doesn't stop them from trading them at a whim. Look at Jayson Tatum, he one of the NBA's rising stars and I'm sure the Celtics make bank from marketing him. That doesn't stop them from discussing trading him for Anthony Davis.

A positive spin:

If Kyrie leaves, the Celts still have the heart and soul of their team, because Kyrie is not actually the leader or culture setter of the Celtics despite being the best player.

Marcus Smart and Al Horford are the core of this Celtics team.

As long as they're around, I will be able to appreciate the Celtics even if they're definitely not contending for a title.

People on Celticsblog after Kyrie's comments get blown way out of proportion and largely taken out of context  ::).....

I'm sure his agent had a few words with him as well after he made that initial statement.

I think we are seeing why there's been a rift in the locker room and why the team plays better without Kyrie.

Ship him out of here ASAP and get what you can for him.

He is after security and most money.. The team that can only give those is Boston.. Stop stressing.
He already has a ring  and has said before he is after legacy.. He wants his number retired in the rafters.

He is p---ed at the media to keep bugging him these silly questions so best answer would be to just ask him July 1st.

Nothing wrong with what he said because even if he says he is re-signing for the 1836274th time.. Will people believe him.. Probably not so just ask him July 1st...he naver said I'll be seeking meetings with other teams.. He said ask him July 1st.

Here's a portion of the video - he mostly sounds quietly annoyed with the coverage. Doesn't include the quotes people are freaking about though.
