So high likelihood of remaining but not the certainty Kyrie claimed earlier in the season.

Which I think is completely reasonable given that things have not gone as smoothly this year as thought.

It was premature for Kyrie to declare commitment to Boston before the season, but the fact remains that he still is likely to stay here because (a) we can offer the most money and long-term security, and (b) we're still the best basketball situation for him.

Besides, he's simply not going to leave if we trade for Davis - bar none.

Sounds like a guy who is tired with all this BS rumors.
And a guy who has no clue what effect his actions and words have on others.

I wish people would stop. We have a team that may go to the Finals this year. Can we enjoy that without all the handwringing about what might happen next year? Wait and see. Enjoy the ride.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.

Well to be honest, I'm a little disappointed... You would've thought he would've changed his mind set and become more of a leader..

I'll play the optimistic person and say that Kyrie only says this because even after saying he'd re-sign here, people (especially here) are still asking him about it and strongly believe he won't. Even if Kyrie said again he'd re-sign here, you'd have the likes of Triboy16 downplaying it anyways  :P

No I wouldnt.. I would have admitted

But my feeling about this was correct

He may still resign..but only under strict conditions and this seasons outcome

Lets see how RJ87 and Goukie88 .. the presidents of Kyrie is life fanclub spin this

If Iam Danny Iam checking out what type of return you can get for Irving.  Irving is not the only one that can take the team hostage

As I have said time and time again, players don't owe loyalty to franchises. This is a business. They should do what's best them If Kyrie decides staying in Boston isn't in his best interest, then that's his right.

Even though some posters have mocked me for saying it before: Kyrie is so immature. Sometimes it’s very annoying having that guy be the “leader” of our team.

I know people really love to talk about the sky falling...

But couldn't his comments also be interpreted as someone who is sick of answering questions about his Free Agency in the middle of the season, considering he already came out the beginning of the season and announced his intentions.  I dunno, if I came out to an arena full of people and said what I wanted to do, then had to answer questions about where I think I'll end up based off of speculative rumors that as far as we know aren't even coming from Kyrie.

There have been reports for MONTHS about his desire to sign certain places.  No hard sources, just things like "someone close to the situation."  It's all speculative.  The only words spoken by Kyrie regarding any of this was the night in Boston where he said he had intentions of resigning.

Obviously these things can change, but why are we so quick to believe reports from unnamed sources versus right out of the man's mouth?  I'd probably be fed up with the questions and answer similarly.

Who knows.

Pretty much just be banging your head until July trying to analyze it.

Anybody want to guess what the plan would be if Kyrie does leave and AD is not traded for?
Who is out there Boston could go after with a max slot? Kemba?

Afraid Boston would have a lot of money and nobody to spend it on. Plus you get into the 3 picks in this year's draft...talk about a super young team. Talented...but you would be giving the reigns over to Tatum, Rozier and Brown hoping Al and Hayward could lead.

But this has an effect right now.  Everybody is already disgruntled.  This amplifies that.

Of course this is your response

Does the Celtics come 1st or Irving?

As far as I am concerned there is no one player that should be above a franchise, because it takes more than one player to make a franchise. If the Celtics NEED a commitment from Kyrie NOW and he is not willing to give it, you have to trade him. If the Celtics do not NEED the commitment yet, then you wait.

It really is that simple.

All Kyrie had to do was say, I told you I am committed to the Celtics long term, now I have to concentrate on winning a championship. That is it, but because he is all about drama he just cannot. Now the entire team is affected by this 'leader'.

Good thing you're not Danny.  ::)

And by the way, he said it's still likely that he resigns here with Boston in the lead, so I'm not sure where you're going with this little power trip of yours.

Woj says on his podcast there is a lot of “wishful thinking” that Kyrie is in play. Adds that Irving has been clear "in recent weeks, in recent days” that he remains committed to the Celtics.

This frustration seems much more about all the speculation about where he's going rather than any genuine mindset that he's leaving.

They wouldn’t have a max slot. They can only sign Irving because it’s a re-sign. Hayward and Horford eat up most of our cap number.
