I'm now convinced there won't be a trade until the offseason.  The 2 best potential offers- Boston and NYK both need until the offseason (Boston for the Rose Rule and NYK to see where the pick lands).  The Pels weren't moving too fast before this KP trade and now that 2 offers could both be way better than LA, I really don't see a deal happening.

If Pelicans make trade to Lakers:

Randle
Kuzma
Ingram
Holiday
Ball
Zubac
Mirotic
2 1st

not a bad young team

That team moves them to seatle

Yeah, I'm also not crazy about this roster full of complementary players. It won't make the new Seattle Microsofts fans forget DJ, Gus Williams, and Jack Sikma.  At least, if Tatum is in the trade along with Smart and Williams plus picks, they have three very solid starters (Holiday, Smart, and Tatum) plus Tatum's potential to be an elite player. I know. I know. I hate including Tatum too, but for a trade to be fair it has to be painful for both sides. After all, we would be getting one of the top five players in the league.

the problem for NY though is this...why give up your potential number 1 draft pick and hold him for 5 yrs potentially 8 for a rental of one yr of AD?..because if no superstar comes to NY next yr, then AD will leave in 2020, which frankly makes them stink again and lose Zion in the process ( assuming of course they get the number 1 pick).

I think the goal would be to trade for AD and that would in itself convince a max FA to join him...hopefully not Kyrie. I guess this shows how important it is for Danny to beat NYK's offer; not only would we not get AD, but we could potentially lose Kyrie.

I was worried about the Knicks, but after thinking long about it, not that much. It doesn't make much sense. Like Phoenix who have the assets, but presumably won't enter the bidding war.

The Knicks will have to offer most of their young core as those late Dallas picks don't mean much.

Are you really going to gamble your whole future on a trade for Davis, who could walk next year, to hopefully lure two other top level free agents to come and play with Davis and some veteran ring chasers?

I don't think Irving is interested in gambling on that project and Leonard or Durant won't sign there before a trade for Davis is made.

That the Knicks tried to offer Porzingis for Davis was just a desperate move I think and not part of a strategy to get Davis.

I see the same problem. That outcome would be so incredibly bad that even Orlando would feel proud about their accomplishments the last 6 years.

Is Nick Wright at Fox Sports reliable?  Tweeted something about the NBA having another surprise to announce tonight.   Can't paste the link with my phone for some reason.

The surprise is that LeBron will play tonight.

One way to get Pelicans to start sweating a little is for AD to start playing

Not only is there a chance of injury but also  doesn't improve Pelicans chance for the 2019 draft

Lebron and Paul is probably going to advise AD to start playing as soon as he can (as long as the Pelicans keep ignoring Pelinka)

In this case I don't think the PElicans can tell him so sit down and not play for the rest of the season when he is capable to
Healthy players have no say in whether they can play or not. Davis could desperately want to play but if the team doesn't want him playing, he won't play.

Silver's rant about sitting star players for rest why traveling has nothing to do with a team sitting a star player over internal grievances with said player. Demps and Gentry control whether Davis ever plays again in NOLA, not Davis.

Disagree

So if this was true...then why not tell him to stay at home and not be around the bench (which is weird in the first place)

Look at the end of the day.... I'am sure Davis has no issue sitting , eating millions of dollars for free

But if Paul/Lebron want to pressure the Pelicans to do something...having him suit up and play until the deadline would be one way

Plenty of players request a trade, but still play

If you can get AD in New York with full max space I gotta think you can get KD, Kemba, Butler, Kyrie, somebody.

Because James Dolan is just that bad.  Or at least he might be. And he could delude himself into thinking KD is coming. Part of the problem with NYK and even NO to an extent is you can’t really rely on them being 100% logical. In the Knicks case, even remotely competent.

Is there anyone on that Lakers team that you can trade that's as good as Jaylen Brown? Is there any picks they have better than Kings or Griz picks?

Kuzma is better

And some say Ball and Ingram is better also

Brown play this season has dropped his ranking
