Anthony Davis is focused on the Lakers as his top preferred destination, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @WatchStadium. The Knicks are also as a preferred landing spot, and made push to New Orleans with offer around Kristaps Porzingis before the Dallas deal.
Lol Rich Paul is exclusively focusing on the Celtics now, doing everything he can to not get NOLA to wait, even throwing New York in the bunch now. Pretty clear he knows that they have no shot of trading for AD after the deadline.
Just watch - once it's clear that NOLA won't budge even with all of these "leaks" coming out, something will "leak" in the next few days that AD won't even play for the Celtics if traded there as an attempt to force NOLA's hand. Guarantee it!
+1
NO has almost no incentive to trade AD now. The only benefit to doing so would be that you'd start the tank earlier and you wouldn't have to risk an AD injury hurting his value.
But, outside of an exogenous event, he's staying. The Lakers offer isn't going away. They'll also have a better idea of what the Knicks have to offer.
Danny is on the phone with them now, telling them exactly that. He's been doing it for a while. NO simply doesn't have a compelling reason to rush.
Oh, as to all the Kyrie stuff: Kyrie hasn't been returning my phone calls, so I'm not exactly sure what he's thinking, but I bet he returns Ainge's. It's simple: If he's likely to leave, he won't be on the team Friday. And if he says, "I'll stay if you get AD," we're in good shape, since we are in the lead for the AD trade, as well. KI depends on AD, and AD staying likely depends on KI.
If there's anyone I trust in this situation, it's Danny.
