Anthony Davis is focused on the Lakers as his top preferred destination, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @WatchStadium. The Knicks are also as a preferred landing spot, and made push to New Orleans with offer around Kristaps Porzingis before the Dallas deal.

Lol Rich Paul is exclusively focusing on the Celtics now, doing everything he can to not get NOLA to wait, even throwing New York in the bunch now. Pretty clear he knows that they have no shot of trading for AD after the deadline.

Just watch - once it's clear that NOLA won't budge even with all of these "leaks" coming out, something will "leak" in the next few days that AD won't even play for the Celtics if traded there as an attempt to force NOLA's hand. Guarantee it!

NO has almost no incentive to trade AD now. The only benefit to doing so would be that you'd start the tank earlier and you wouldn't have to risk an AD injury hurting his value.

But, outside of an exogenous event, he's staying. The Lakers offer isn't going away. They'll also have a better idea of what the Knicks have to offer.

Danny is on the phone with them now, telling them exactly that. He's been doing it for a while. NO simply doesn't have a compelling reason to rush.

Oh, as to all the Kyrie stuff: Kyrie hasn't been returning my phone calls, so I'm not exactly sure what he's thinking, but I bet he returns Ainge's. It's simple: If he's likely to leave, he won't be on the team Friday. And if he says, "I'll stay if you get AD," we're in good shape, since we are in the lead for the AD trade, as well. KI depends on AD, and AD staying likely depends on KI.

If there's anyone I trust in this situation, it's Danny.

Exactly. Danny traded IT at the height of his Boston stardom after a top-3 or so finish for the MVP race. If he thinks Kyrie is gone this summer, then Danny will ship him out by the deadline.

The Boston Celtics aren't a preferred destination long-term for New Orleans star Anthony Davis, and in Davis’ mind, remain a rental option.

It'll be a little softened to allow for wiggle room later.

Sources - AD "uncertain" about playing for Celtics if acquired; would consider not reporting or sitting out next season.
I can feel that coming. He's waiting for the deadline day for that i bet

He can't sit out because then he doesn't become a free agent

Anthony Davis speaking to the media now. A few tidbits that I've read thus far:

Anthony Davis said his intention is to still play this season when he’s healthy.

Anthony Davis: It’s more about legacy over money. When I’m done playing or leave this earth, it’ll be about my legacy.

Sounds like a guy doing some damage control. And it almost sounds like contrary to what Rich Paul would want, as I think AD would more strongly be pushing toward LA and a trade right now if he was hellbent on getting there before the deadline.

And if he's concerned most about his "legacy," isn't it clear that Boston gives him the best shot at winning both short- and long-term and having that lasting legacy?

The threat would be a bluff anyway, but could you expand on that? His contract expires June 30th 2020 regardless, what else would happen if he just refused to play til then?

Well, that's a lie lol Maybe YOU didn't want it to go public, but your sleazy agent did.

I know that it doesn't work this way in the NBA, but if I had an agent working on my behalf for a new job and he made it public without my permission, he would be my agent no longer.

Ok here me out. AD is under contract for another year. So why not just call the Pelicans and propose a deal.

To Pelicans - Kyrie, 3 #1 picks (not the Kings pick)

To Boston - AD

Now the Celtics always have time to flip AD but will have him until the trade deadline in 2020. It gives the Celtics more time to decide and it makes the Lakers come calling the Celtics. AD will be in the playoffs in the East as well. The Pelicans then have cap room and picks to start over. They would have 4 #1 picks in this draft.

Rozier
Smart
Tatum
Horford
AD

NO passes; they lose Kyrie after the season, and only have the picks.

The intention is to team up Kyrie & AD.  Not trade one for the other.

They can still trade Holiday or Mirotic. The picks give them a chance to start over and they didn't cave to the Lakers demands.

If the Celtics get to the Finals with AD, teams will still come with offers because that will be the furthest he's ever been in the playoffs and the narrative of him leaving changes.

The Celtics have the pieces now to get to the Finals and AD puts us over the top in the East. Hes the missing piece not Kyrie, that's been proven.
