Update sorta Woj says Cleveland thinks IT is gonna miss more time then they initially believed. Says both teams have a lot to lose.

A busted up IT and a draft pick ain't gonna do much for the REAL GM of the Cavs, LeKing. No doubt this puppy is getting voided. Rookie GM thought he was getting the deal of a lifetime and ended up hosed..

The deal was not for IT. He is filler who is not even in the Cavs future plans. The deal was for the top 5 pick and crowder's friendly contract

Yes, but as I explained, ain't going to do much for LeKing is it? You know the world's best player at the tail end of his prime?

The clear solution here is for Trump to pardon IT's hip.

So IT's hip is a racist criminal? No wonder we wanted to trade the guy!

This is still totally undefined.  I would like to know how much time Cleveland "initially believed" he would miss and now how much time do they believe he will miss based on their medical examination.  With out specifics, these tweets are just speculation.

If this has any truth to it, and it may, then Cleveland is admitting that they knew when they made the trade that IT would miss some time.  You assume Boston knew this too.  Adds a very new perspective to the discussion of who won the trade and why such a valuable draft pick was included.

Unless CLE thinks IT will miss most or all of the season or never be able to play full strength, they probably do not want to void the trade.  If they thought IT was going to miss that much, they probably would have voided it already.

I feel like the longer this plays out, the worse Cleveland looks and the madder IT is probably getting.  IT really is the loser in all of this.

Only on CelticsBlog would a reigning 2x all-star, All-NBA, 29PPG scorer be a throw-in.

If that's the case, who cares about his hip? Cavs would take the deal and hey, if he's healthy by the playoffs, they just bolstered their end of bench with a 5'9" vet PG for blowouts.

He'll also be able to tell the rest of the DNP's old stories of what it was like for him to play in the playoffs way back in 2017 when he finally got a little playing time he was able to score a few buckets, putting up a pedestrian 53 and accidentally getting 29/12 in a game 7.

Then he can go sign with some team for the vet min.

Considering his injury and contract situation, it's pretty obvious conclusion. Of course, if you're only interested in the Celtics in passing, this might not be the case.

Kozlo, the Cavs want to win here and now, and their other PGs are Calderon and Rose.

Precisely. LeKing and the Cavs aren't interested in simply chucking the season. They need a healthy PG somewhere this summer..

This is only partly true.  Cleveland's #1 priority is the rebuild when LeBron inevitably leaves. But their second priority is making another Finals/title run in the one year they've got left with him.

They liked our trade in part because they got another top PG for 1 year on a cheap contract to run with LeBron, then they can cast him aside when the rebuild begins. A limited or absent IT changes that calculus quite a bit.

That would be a good buy low candidate for Danny to sign.

he's a warm, young body but was does he really provide?  he hasn't lasted more than a season with any 1 team.  how much could we really expect from him off the bench?

are there better big man candidates still left out there?  I know Bogut's been rumored but his health is highly suspect.  anyone have a reasonable option for us that could provide some moderate production and stay healthy for the season?
