I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

If the Celtics were truly transparent and the physical came out with nothing new then Ainge can't possibly let the trade be changed. Otherwise everyone will want to do this all the time.

What's the point of being transparent if other teams can just turn around and say "Oh yeahhh...um...no. Need more"?

What's the point of even making a deal?

Nobody will deal with the Cavs if they do this. They'll have to overpay every time.

It will be interesting to see if Danny does file some sort of complaint or a request for an investigation if it is canceled. He was apparently pretty ticked after hearing this news, so he must truly feel that he was transparent in this situation.

I think a third party should review IT's condition and determine whether or not Cleveland's claims are reasonable. If not, they should be compelled to complete the trade as is, if not also additional punishment.
I'd be down with this.

In the mean time making a call to various teams could get interesting. Maybe Lillard for example

So the Cavs twitter just added a pick with IT and Crowder talking about preseason. I know the front office doesn't run twitter, but you'd think if they weren't happy with what they are getting in IT they would put the word out not to use him in promos.
Interesting. Gotta be good news.

If it were to fall through, I wonder if Kyrie would come out and say something like whoever trades for him he's not going to resign. He'd really push them to close the deal with us, how much does he want to be in green? Guess we're going to find out.

he could also not waive his trade kicker as he did for us

This is why I think a 2nd rounder should be enough

"Complain and ye shall receive.
The Boston Celtics have been granted a 2013 second-round pick from the Oklahoma City Thunder in a dispute over Jeff Green's medical condition, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Green was traded by the Thunder at the deadline in a deal that sent him and Nenad Krstic to Boston and Nate Robinson and Kendrick Perkins to OKC. After Green re-signed with the Celtics last summer, he failed his physical because of a heart condition and was forced to miss the entire season following surgery.
According to the report, the Thunder are sending a second-round pick that they own via the Bobcats.
Later Tuesday, the NBA issued the following statement explaining its decision and the awarding of the pick.
As part of a ruling in a trade disclosure dispute between the Boston Celtics and the Oklahoma City Thunder, NBA Commissioner David Stern today awarded the Celtics a 2013 second-round draft pick held by the Thunder. Stern found that there was no evidence of bad faith or any intent to withhold information on the part of Thunder management or its physicians, but that Oklahoma City's cardiologists were in possession of information about Jeff Green that was not shared with Thunder management and that should have been disclosed to the Celtics in connection with the trade of Green in February 2011.
Under NBA rules, teams are required to disclose to each other in connection with trades any information in their possession or control about a player's prior injuries, illnesses, or other health conditions that could affect the player's ability to play NBA basketball at any point in the future. Green had surgery on his heart in January 2012 and did not play during the 2011-12 season.
"

We need silver to intervene... See that we did not have bad faith in disclosure, and we give a 2nd rounder as compensation.

From what I understand:
1. The teams have until Wednesday to file a physical.
2. They can agree to extend this deadline.

So this doesn't mean much.

Sheesh, that makes me think that even a second rounder is too much.

In your example, the Thunder didn't even know about the condition, let alone fail to tell the Celtics.

In the Kyrie trade, IT's injury was known by every single NBA head in the USA...

Exactly! i agree 100%

At worst we should give a 2nd rounder

Ideally we give them nothing more

I think a protected 2nd rounder might be fair

Vardon from Cleveland.com:

A Cavs source said the two sides need to reach a conclusion by Wednesday evening or mutually agree to extend the deadline. Though the Cavs could void the trade based on Thomas' injury, a source with knowledge of Cleveland's thinking still expected a deal to get done.

From the Cavs' perspective, they need the draft picks and Crowder is an excellent wing defender who can help them against the Warriors. Even if Thomas misses months because of his hip, Cleveland has Derrick Rose on the roster to play point guard. When Cleveland won the NBA title in 2016, Irving wasn't a regular in the starting lineup until late December because of knee surgery.

Irving, meanwhile, completed his physical with the Celtics on Saturday.

The Cavs could void the deal and seek to deal Irving to another team, but they obviously felt the Celtics offered them the best package originally and the market for Irving could be damaged by rescinding this trade.

This is like the 3rd or 4th insider that has sources saying they expect the deal to go through

I hate this topic and all these speculations on what will happen.  It's pretty useless and rather lame given that people in Texas are losing their homes & everything, and the Prez is pardoning a proven racist criminal.  Get some perspective people.

That said, if "sensitive" negotiations are re-opened, Ainge should ask for something else back too.  I mean, why not?  Perhaps a pick swap instead of just giving them an additional pick. The Cavs are not exactly in the best negotiating position.
