Well, I think Ainge and Brad didn't want him potentially messing everything up. That's the main point I think and I understand.

I wouldve taken the risks still though.

Glad to finally put this to rest. The final package is disappointing, but it's not like Cousins is actually KG. I imagine now he and the Pelicans will actually start winning, but there are no guarantees. Cousins is going to have to chill out. As for the Kings, they might not have gotten what they wanted, but now they are actually able to start over and are rid of the cloud that was Cousins.

Bummer, but let's move on - apparently, team culture and camaraderie really do matter. Not just to the C, but also many other teams that balked at acquiring Cousins.

As much as anything, Sacramento wants to build a culture free of Cousins. In the end, they changed course on committing $200M to him

The picture being painted here is that Cousins had become seen as radioactive both by his own team and many possible suitors, including us. Which is almost impressive with his level of talent.

I don't really know how I feel about not getting him but as a basketball fan Cousins + AD is an incredible combo. Possibly an all-time caliber frontcourt, possibly an epic implosion. REALLY intriguing.

The majority of NBA feels his lack of control and lack of proven leadership is not worthy of anything of significance. Plus, to make a big trade for many valuable parts is not logical when dealing with a player who who is so unpredictable. Mark my words, when he is free agent, he will bolt NO for a big market.

This is just a reminder that we were just outrebounded by +20 rebounds in our last game, which we lost, yet Danny wasn't interested in an elite scorer and rebounder who happened to fit the very position and role we needed.

Forget about rebounds, scoring and challenging Cleveland! We protected our locker room culture! Everyone knows that's more important than actually winning. I do wonder how that culture will be impacted when we get savaged on the boards again in the playoffs? Hmm....

Yeah, I would have hated to see our non-contender disrupted.

Let's give our organization the benefit of the doubt. If Brad didn't want him in the locker room, and I'm sure they talked to IT4 about him, I'm sure they had good reason to not give up on their assets.

I wouldn't fault a team for believing in their highest draft pick in 20 years and their top pick in a loaded draft the next two seasons.

Cousins is a good talent. But, he's shooting 45% with 4 turnovers a game on a team that hasn't made the playoffs since he arrived there. He is a nuisance in the locker room, constantly picks up technicals, and basically loses as many games with his temper/actions/suspensions as he wins with his talent.

I like him and wish we got him. But I'll trust the organization that built our treasure chest to not unload it on someone they didn't love.

They're effectively the anti-Warriors. If they play their salary-cap cards rcorrectly, we could see a great migration of FAs going there to start the next superteam (CP3 or Hayward, anyone?)

I'm drooling thinking about Chris Paul running pick and rolls with Cousins and Davis.

And this is just a reminder that the Kings have watched Cousins everday since he came into the league and THIS is what they were willing to accept to be rid of him.

Mike

Your argument would be more meaningful if we weren't talking about the most dysfunctional and incompetent ownership/management duo in sports. Who knows - Danny might've got three times as much for him. From all indications, this is an especially low return for an All-NBA caliber center. And the fact that this was an impulsive thing that seemingly just occurred in the last couple of days just puts the exclamation point on this whole fiasco.

Before we go jumping off bridges, remember IT played with Cousins for three years...

You have to think he doesn't believe in Cousins. Hard to believe the C's pass on him unless they know there is something really wrong.

Stay the course. This may not be our year, but the '20's may be our decade.

Brad has a say too. Im not so sure Danny would have been the voice against getting cousins.

Those that are okay with not being in the discussions, need to take off the homer glasses.

I would trade one of any of the 15 players on this roster, plus the brooklyn pick for Demarcus.

Attitude aside, no one on this team has the POTENTIAL to be a top 5 talent in the league; while people agree unanimously that Cousins is.

I could not care less about attitude. Just take a shot at it, and reset later.. it is just 1 pick!

This is not a good day.

I know everyone is so upset right now, but even with the Pelicans, there is no sure thing that they suddenly turn into a great team with boogie and the brow.  I can see an equal chance that the whole thing blows up on the Pelicans and they don't even get him to sign an extension.  Or is it now being reported that he will sign an extension?
