Well, I think Ainge and Brad didn't want him potentially messing everything up. That's the main point I think and I understand.
I wouldve taken the risks still though.
Yeah, I would have hated to see our non-contender disrupted.
Stay the course. This may not be our year, but the '20's may be our decade.
... said every team with consecutive lottery picks, ever.
How many teams with consecutive top-5 picks (in DEEP drafts) are already 50+ game winners?
Unless those picks turn into All-NBA players, it doesn't matter does it?
We're a team with one star. Our second best player is old. We have a ton of guys who have bargain contracts that are up in the next two seasons.
Our window to become a contender is this trade deadline and next off-season. After that our financial flexibility evaporates.
If you don't think the top 3 prospects in this draft are potential All-NBA players, then I understand why you believe this was a big misstep.
I believe they are, and we can find a potential all-star big the year after.
Of course this is all optimism and wishful-thinking on my part, but not completely unfounded.
We have Smart and Brown who can turn into all-stars, plus two more picks that could potentially become all-stars. We have a current all-star (IT4), a former one (Horford), and a fringe one (Bradley).
I don't blame our organization for liking the talent/assets we have and the chemistry we built.
