Asik may actually help us win more games right now, confusing our split minds even further on whether to win or lose, but the next time the games really matter, Jeff Green's production will blow Asik's out of the water...
I actually feel the opposite. I think Asik, similar to Avery, shows his true value when he has good players around him. A trade for Green would probably decrease our win totals this year because we would struggle to score. But when we have better players that fit together, Asik's contributions will be very valuable.
I was thinking that Gerald Wallace is an excellent, starter-quality backup, while at center we have no one as good as Asik right now, no real defender in the paint. That was my thinking in terms of wins and losses. Unless you want Asik as your starting center for the next 5 or 6 years, it makes no sense to grab him now and worsen our lottery position. (just a hypothesis...you could be right...hard to speculate)
Regardless, in the long run I think Jeff Green is the better piece on a championship caliber team. He's a team player, good defender and clutch, with flashes of awesomeness. Who cares if he's in the background some games or for stretches. There can only be so many alpha dogs on one team, and I'm hoping we add one or two others via the draft or trade, etc...
If Jeff Green were traded this year I'd rather it be for a younger player, or draft pick with potential that Danny's high on...
If Green and Rondo don't have chemistry, that's another issue..hopefully they're fine as teammates..
