lol... this shouldn't be surprising for anyone. Right around the time we heard our first "doc might coach the clippers" rumor, it was clear Boston was in full-blown tank mode (the right move)... Rondo isn't conducive to a tank job. He's good enough to play us out of the lotto but not good enough to lead a champion.
I really can't imagine anyone would be interested in trading for a busted PG with a torn ACL, though. That's interesting. Not sure what we could get for him... but it's possible he has more trade value now while people still think he's a "playoff superstar" than next season when he comes back hobbling with a torn ACL on a dreadful Celtic team. So Maybe you pull the trigger on whatever you can get... It would be nice to have another 2014 lotto pick, but I can't see it happening.
Nobody still thinks he's a "playoff superstar". You killed that myth when you accurately predicted that the Celts wouldn't miss a beat on offense without him in the playoffs.
...at least that's your story, and you're *clearly* sticking with it.
Actually, we were better in the playoffs without Rondo.
In my first experiment, I used a time machine to prevent Rondo's ACL injury... We stayed at below .500 and missed the playoffs entirely.
Then in a second test, I used a dimension rift to put healthy Rondo on our 2013 playoff team... Jeff Green just stood around waiting for the ball and the Knicks swept us.
Glad to see you're adding a little reality to your posts. When the Celts were setting records for offensive ineptitude in the playoffs some posters claimed that the claim that the team didn't need Rondo was finally put to rest. I commented that they were overestimating many of the posters here. You're single-handedly proving my point.
By the way, if you saw the playoffs you would have noticed that Jeff Green *doesn't* need to have the ball in his hands a lot to be successful. In fact the opposite is pretty much true. He does very well when someone swings the ball to him and he can either shoot the ball or drive past the guy who's moving towards him.
He doesn't do as well when he has the ball in his hands and has to create his shot when the defense is right in front of him. His synergy numbers will make that pretty clear if you take a look at them. He also doesn't create for others when he has the ball, his assist rate is about half of what PP's is. I'd guess your assessment of Green's game was made based on your wanting to claim he's not a good fit with Rondo more than on watching him play.
